Star Trek (http://www.joystiq.com/game/star-trek) is a game mired in technical and design issues (http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/star-trek-the-video-game). According to Deadline (http://www.deadline.com/2013/10/paramount-brian-miller-exiting-star-trek-video-game/), its most vocal promoter, Paramount senior vice president of worldwide marketing partnerships and licensing Brian Miller, is leaving Paramount.
The decision for Miller to vacate his role was mutual, according to the report, so he'll finish out the year before making his exit. Miller has spent the last 14 years working at Paramount and will look to explore personal projects after his time with the company is up.
J.J. Abrams, director of the new Star Trek series of films, said he was involved with the game at the outset but backed out (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/09/13/j-j-abrams-dropped-involvement-with-star-trek-game/) early on due to concerns over where the project was headed. Ultimately, J.J. Abrams felt the video game "didn't help" his latest film, Star Trek Into Darkness, and "arguably hurt it." Abrams is currently working with Valve (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/06/newell-valve-looking-to-make-portal-or-half-life-move-with-j-j/) on a few projects, one of which could be a Half-Life or Portal film.http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif (http://www.joystiq.com)Report: Star Trek game figurehead Brian Miller leaving Paramount (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/10/08/report-star-trek-game-champion-brian-miller-leaving-paramount/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Tue, 08 Oct 2013 19:30:00 EST.
