I'm looking to develop Beyond the Beyond Extreme. I've paid next to nothing to acquire the rights to Beyond the Beyond, a game I don't find too bad but has very few fans so knew it was going to be dirt cheap. I have no skill at coding and have no idea on where to start, but if I can get atleast 10 million in donations, I'll probably throw something together on RPG Maker 2013 and call it a day.

Dude, you're awesome! This is one of my favorite Playstation RPGs and I must have played through it 13 times. (I got it when I was 13 and I'm 26 now so that means I average about at least once per year!)

What do you plan to do with it? Is it a remake, a sequel, or a remake containing extras? And if you have the rights to it now does that mean it is never coming to PSN? If you would like any suggestions I am one of the biggest fans of the game so I could probably give you some ideas along with your own.

I'm also interested in how far your rights go into the elements of the series. I don't know yet if you have total ownership of the characters or if you are just permitted to make one game. It would be interesting if you could make this into an actual franchise and do other interesting things with the characters to popularize the series. You could even have someone do something as simple as an 8-bit theatre style comic with the characters and it would draw attention if it was a regular thing.

Pretty sure this is just Kupomogli's poor attempt at trolling about Kickstarter.

Yeaaaa, I figured as much, but I wasn't sure if it was a Kupo troll attempt, or someone elses and he found it.

Poor attempt? You didn't like it a little bit? I was trolling Kickstarter, but I thought people might have liked to have a laugh seeing something like this. I guess it would have been better if I made an actual Kickstarter for it as well, but didn't want to waste my time on something I wasn't serious in doing. It also wouldn't have happened I don't think, but what if it reached the 10 million goal :P.

Anyways. I didn't think of this until after the post, but Beyond the Beyond the Beyond would have been a better name for a sequel.

reply.

I didn't reply sooner because I thought you were playing along, but you are just playing along right?

No I am serious. I am a real fan of this game and I would love control of the IP myself if I had the chance. I would actually try to get some contacts and have some improvements made where this game struggled.

The games biggest problem is the way you do critical hits and defend. Yeah, it actually works, but it doesn't work all the time. For attack it's just an increased percentage and defense probably too although defense seems to work more regularly. The problem with this is that you're just mashing left and x when attacking the entire time or up and x when defending(or maybe that's backwards.) Instead it would have just been better if they balanced the game better and didn't include that feature because the base game isn't a bad game.

While a remake of this game could be good, it wouldn't sell because there's really no fanbase behind it.

Sorry for disappointing you with the thread though.

Ah so you didn't even actually get the rights at all? Because there is a Manga called Beyond the Beyond that I'm pretty sure has an anime adaptation, I would imagine it would have also been good to give any remake or sequel a new title.

With a bunch of balancing done to shorten the game as it existed, it would also have been cool to tweak the options so you could turn on fast text speed before even starting the game, making the painfully slow intro go by quicker, or rewrite the intro into a more summarized format to make it quick. Then maybe add more events before the beginning of the game, more optional quests and areas into the middle of the game, and then create an actual conclusion by letting the game continue in the underworld, similar to FF4 when you go underground. If a new version of the game was made less grind heavy and more story heavy, more people would appreciate it as its own entity and actually give it a chance with a new title applied to it.

^Yeah I didn't. It was just a joke making fun of the 900,000 Kickstarters that have acquired the license to a random game series that wasn't too popular.

I actually had a good laugh, simply due to how bad of an attempt at sarcastic humor this was.
