Okay,

So my favorite game genre's include platformer's and space shooters. The third being one that I'm not sure has a definition, basically any game that requires good control skills (eg Joust, Solar Jetman, etc). Anyone have suggests of more games along this line for the NES, I have Balloon Fight on my list.

Thanks

2 good space shooters IMO are Star Soldier and Zanac. I have a lot of fun with those. If you want a hard but fun classic platformer that takes skill. Kid Icarus. Holy Crap is that game hard. To me at least. Kid Icarus requires good controller handling and quick timing. A sure challenge for even NES vets.

It sounds like you mean games where part of the challenge is dealing with gravity -- in other words, games that treat gravity in a semi-realistic way, where your character or ship feels like he/she/it has "weight", and where handling inertia and momentum is a big part of the challenge. Is that correct?

If so, Astro Robo Sasa is another one. It's a Famicom exclusive, but doesn't have any language barrier.

It's not on the NES, but Space Taxi on the Commodore 64 takes a great deal of controller finesse and reflexes. I highly recommend checking the game out as it is simple yet brilliant with its tight controls. I never played it as a child, but I love it now. Definitely worth checking out.

Yes, this is what I was trying to get at.

You could check out T&C Surf Design, the Surf stage has kinda tricky controls. Once you get used to it its really fun, although I know alot of people hate it.

I'm a T&C Surf Design defender as well- the surfing stage in particular. I didn't "get" the surf stage as a kid, but it clicked as an adult and I now love it.

OK, then Dash Galaxy in the Alien Asylum deals with gravity and daft controller mechanics.

Mega Man II. Try jumping through a pit lined with spikes.

Zelda II's combat controls weren't as simplistic as the average side scroller, like Strider or Castlevania. The way the combatants pushed away from each other, and the timing between attacks made simple button mashing inadequate for victory. It was definitely a skill that had to be developed to finish that game.

I once defeated Dark Link without taking any damage by mashing buttons.
