Hey all. Im doing a psu mod and right now and the psu im using is rated at 12v 4A

I supposed that it would be enough to power a model 1, cd model 2, and a 32x.

The pus powers the gene and cd just fine but adding the 32x gives me no power across the board. I assume there just isn't enough amperage getting through.
I revered the wiring on my home made cable and then everything turns on, but im pretty sure it's just because now the 32x has the power lines revered and now gets no power. But im asking here just to be sure.

So is there anyway to tell if the 32x is actually getting powered on without video?

I currently dont have an adapter cable for a model 1 genesis. Ill be making one soon. In the mean, any way to tell?

Leave the top cover off and use a multimeter to see if anythings getting through. I havent opened mine before, but I assume it shouldnt be hard to reach the ac inputs to test.

Hey thanks for the reply. I've since sold it since it didn't turn out to work, and none of the typical options of repair worked. I was opting to hard solder the ribbion cables, but figured the effort wasn't worth it considering a working one is pretty cheap.

If you have a new one, im curious if the mod worked out. Im thinking about doing a few to one or two of my segas. Any luck?

Oh I did complete the mod! I bought a 32x game for testing and it would only boot into the tmss screen, which is enough to know its working. Even with the regular power cable it didnt boot past that.

So now I use just a regular 2 prong power cable like with the dreamcast and saturn. And a cable I made that connects the genesis to the cd and 32x systems.
It's pretty sweet. Not the most useful mod in the world but it's a fun project removes the need for any sort of brick.
