All that sounds good, but i want a 2d adventure, not another prime or other m like experience.

Another 2D one, an ELABORATE 2D one, little to no polygons. Limit those to the backgrounds and certain effects.

2D or 2.5D.
I'd actually prefer 2.5D and the game being on the 3DS. Hopefully Nintendo will put forth the effort and not make yet another game with the laziest 3D on the system. I just started playing Pokemon X and aside from the title screen and maybe the menu, the only part that the game has 3D is when there are single and double battles. Against groups, on the map, literally anywhere but singles and doubles matches, the 3D is non existent. Then the 3D that is there is lazy. There are three planes. The background, the enemies Pokemon which mostly 2D aside from its outline, and the players Pokemon. So the worst 3D on the system is on a first party game.

A story written by someone who has a clue about what kind of character Samus Aran is.
Oh, and 2.5D on 3D/2DS.

2D sidescroller. Anything else is not a true Metroid experience.
Nintendo has done amazing things lately with 2D Mario games, 2D Kirby games, and 2D Donkey Kong Country games. It doesn't take a genius to realize that the next franchise that needs to see a 2D revitalization is Metroid. Come on, Nintendo! Get it done!

I hope it's not as plain and generic as the New Super Mario Brothers series. They're good games but I want excellent games.
A 2D console Zelda game would be in close contention with a new Metroid game for my attention. I think both series need to regularly see 2D and 3D releases in both console and handheld form.

This is a statement I can get behind.

I'd like the style of Prime minus it's (pre Wii) shitty control problems, still in 3D, but locked into a side scrolling (360 degree flat plane 2.5D style, NOT into screen or away like Other M) classic format Metroid title. A little story is fine, but mostly it should be exploration how Metroid 3 and the redo of 1 on GBA did.

I'd like a 2.5D game on the wii u, developed by what's left of gunpei Yokois team. The Gba games they did are spot on, both in terms of game design and aesthetics (they have some of the best music on the Gba).
I liked the prime games, but I didn't dig on the music. The hip hop inspired music ruined the ambience.
And I really don't get all the hate for other m. That's the closest we've gotten to a new 2d metroid in a decade, and it works well. I don't care if the story sucks. If I want a good story, I'll watch a movie. It was an under appreciated game.

1. Either like Fusion or like Prime, pick one.
2. Not another goddamn prequel, push the story forward for fucks sake.

A highly detailed 2D Metroid game where the game characters are not too small like in New Super Mario Bros.
Some 3D or 2.5D elements would be fine. Also, an optional second player would be a nice touch.

Not sure. Probably something more like Tomb Raider.
"classic 2D presentation" yeah look what this has done to Castlevania. Not likely going to happen. Zero Mission was a gift. That said, I'm not as interested in this type of game anymore. I'd rather play a real action game.
Mass Effect-style direction - also not interested with this
I was really tempted just to write "I don't want another Metroid." That said I'm having a lot of fun going back and revisiting another "burned-out" Nintendo franchise, Super Mario Sunshine, so I'd be open to it.

I'd like a Metroid RPG. Think SMRPG but with Metroid.

What do I want from a new Metroid game? Two new Metroid games. A side-on game for the 3DS and a fully 3D game on the Wii U.

I'd like Samus to go back in time to fight Dracula.
