View Full Version : Some PS1 debug codes... For what I've been told... Any collector's value?

Hello! Got those PS1 debug games a couple of days ago and I wonder if there are collectors around who would like to buy them and of course; what price can I expect to get for them? They are rare, but that does not mean valuable. My sister in law is a rare piece as well. You probably get the point. I'm just curious :)

I have some bad news for you...that Legend of Dragoon (if it's indeed a real retail copy) is the only thing worth anything there. The rest of what you have appear to be simply burnt copies. Different developers had different disc-labeling styles for their games...you wouldn't see the same disc art on a Sony beta that you would on an Activision or Square beta. Heck, many of them look like CD-R's with the information simply written on them. Shame, too...I'd have been all over that Einhander and Raiden Project if those were legit.

They are all original PlayStation discs with the black bottom. I was told they are for debugging and seem to be quite rare... That's why I asked about the value... I always throw away regular copied discs.

Black-bottom cd-r discs are a thing. I used to use them when I was burning games for my chipped PS1.

Hmm, so it could be homemade stuff from some guy who cared a lot about what his burned games looked like... Which would make it basically worthless :P But still, some collectors were quite sure these were indeed debug discs. I don't want to sell regular copies to anyone, but I also don't want to throw away collectors items! What to do?!

For the disc to have black bottom doesn't mean there more real but sony did make official black bottom disc for burning debug games but I have seen ps1 debug games on some regular cdr's before.

If you want to make sure I would post over at assemblergames, you would find a more concrete answer.

If they're for debugging then it would mean that the games are different from the final release versions, is this correct? If you want to verify that they're different, download ISOs of the final versions of the game, load those with ImgBurn, and verify the discs you have against those ISOs. They should be different in some way, if they're identical to final copies then even if they're legit from Sony I don't see much value in them among collectors.

I would ask Dangerboy, he should know if they're real or not. I don't know if he checks DigitalPress any more, go to his website and ask him. Game-rave.com
