Depends on who you ask. I haven't priced the base console in a long while, but I picked up mine over 8 years ago for a fraction of that. As the number in the wild dwindles, the price rises. You probably paid more for it than you needed to, though Ninja Spirit is a good conversion and probably drove up the price some. But you didn't get totally hosed, either, I just think maybe you paid a tad too much. But glad to see more people getting into the Turbo - I'm on the hunt for more games for mine, and eventually a CD-ROM attachment at less than the cost of a vital organ :)

I have no idea what the market price is for the TG-16, but I can say that it is an awesome system that has just enriched your collection with the addition of Ninja Spirit. ;)

That's on the high side for that particular package. Having said that, it's a good system and those are all pretty good games, so you should have some fun with it.

seems a bit high to me too, unless it was all complete

but then again who am I to say, I found mine in a dumpster with a turbo booster, all complete except missing A/C adapter.
also found 3 ti99 4/a's an apple IIe and tons of programming stuff from the same era...was an odd find

I paid 200 for my Turbo back in the day but I don't care. It's a great system either way.

Turbo Booster would've been a nice start. Of course I'm one who appreciates RGB and such things.

Bit much just for a TG16 itself, plus the games you got with it are common.Still the best model is a duo since it plays hucards and cd.Any ways if you don't want to mess having it av modded you could try this.

Yeah, had the OP received a TurboBooster with it, that would have been a good price. I paid as much for my booster a few years ago as I paid for my TG-16 originally, and it was a great decision. Looks great (save for a bit of color weirdness) on my Sony WEGA at home, even just via Composite video.

Dude, why don't you ask us before you buy?

Yeah, T16 has pretty good composite output. You'll never mistake it for S-video or higher, but for what it is, it's top notch. Too bad you need a booster or CD base or a hack to get it. NEC really wasn't givin away anything they could charge for.

I have a TG-16 which has excellent RF, so much so that it's hardly noticeable from the composite video wise. Sound is a different story. My point is you can get by with RF if need be. $135 is way too much though.

I was thinking this myself. I got mine with two controllers, 5 controller splitter, and Keith Courage for $50

I've sold two tg16 recently and $135 seems about right for what you got. They can be pritty tricky finding them in the wild for cheap and when they turn up on CL there usually priced over ebay prices in my area.

NEC's stinginess makes the failure of the Turbografx-16 almost bearable, but then there is poor, lovable and plucky Hudson Soft, faithfully supporting the system. :(

Two local dealers have had systems (console, rf, power, controller) marked at 45 and 50 and they've had them for a while. But if you can't find one locally I have no idea the "online" or "convention" rate for the console.

I agree with this. I was pretty surprised to see what TG-16 systems are going for in the open market, as just not too long ago you could get a starter setup for $50 or so any day of the week. There are always deals to be had but for the mid line prices right now, $135 SHIPPED is a fairly decent price. Ninja Spirit is great and all but Dungeon Explorer is the best of the three games you picked up. Get a TurboTap, some extra TurboPads and a couple friends and it's an awesome game. Bomberman (yes, the first, original, included on the Gate of Thunder CD Bomberman) pulls in a decent chunk of change as well. So yeah, a little over $100 for that? Not bad at all, but definitely not a bargain.
