Actually cross-posting this one from another forum where I shared it first. Following along the lines of her Ghosts 'n Goblins fruit bowl (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?157024-Ghosts-n-Goblins-Fruit-Bowl-My-Girlfriend-Painted) and other such arcade / pinball / game related ceramics (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?162934-StarTropics-Serving-Plate-My-Girlfriend-Painted), my girlfriend just picked up her completed Bosconian piece. We had been trying to come up with a Galaxian / Galaga / Gaplus / Galaga '88 / Bosconian mashup for a long time but nothing was coming of it so we settled on Bosconian since I freaking love Bosconian and the game tends to go without praise.
The idea was to wrap a continuous battle scene around a cookie jar with enemy bases, ships, asteroids, mines, and a couple player fighters. Since the game world wraps around continuously we thought it would be a good fit. Atop the lid is the famous opening command from the game, "BLAST OFF" in style and color of the Bosconian marquee.

The idea was this would be a relatively simple piece that could be completed over a couple sittings but it turned out to be the exact opposite. A lot of stuff came up during the time she was working on this and even when she could work on it, the amount of pixelated detail, coat after coat, took quite awhile.
Next piece is based around the Metal Slug franchise but we also have a Ghouls 'n Ghosts bowl planned much later down the line.
