Hacking Retro-Bit SNES Controllers?

Does anybody here have any of these controllers?

I'm thinking of picking some up, but I don't really want to keep them as is. It seems like the reviews are so-so for the D-pad and on the actual shape of the controllers. I'd like to gut them and put everything into an actual SNES controller.

Has anybody hacked these apart and put the wireless guts inside of an actual SNES controller? Just wondering how easy it would be to do or if anybody has done it successfully before.

Let me save you the time and tell you right off the bat that putting a wireless Retro-Bit Super Retro 2.4Ghz controller inside an OEM SNES controller shell is not possible.

The pcbs do not match, the buttons aren't in the right places and most damning of all the OEM SNES controller shell is too thin for the battery compartment. You'd have to heavily modify both the Super Retro Controller and the OEM Super Nintendo controller to the point where doing so would make absolutely no sense.

I own these controllers, and I love them, as Retro-Bit makes much better products in general than other clone makers. The dpad is way better than anything else, but the buttons don't match up to the OEM ones. Still, you can't simply mix and match parts, as each are custom parts that only fit what they were designed for.

Sorry, but this is not an idea worth pursuit.

I built one like that. It takes a moderate amount if hacking and slashing, but it's far from impossible. I likely wouldn't do it again though. More work than its worth IMO.

Thanks for the link. I've seen the video before, but didn't realize that he had all the information in a zip file. I'll probably give it a go and see if I can build some for NES and SNES.

What's wrong with a stock SNES controller? It's a fantastic design, and the cord is pretty long. If it's not long enough, get an extension.

Some people just prefer wireless. Not me though, I hate dealing with batteries. The tradeoff isn't worth it to me most of the time.

THIS! Not to mention the puppy my wife and I got for my mother & father-in-law chewed through an original NES controller cable when I wasn't looking. Aaaaaargh! Wireless controllers for classic systems interest me greatly, as long as the build quality is good and there's little or no input lag.
