As the title says, it'd be awesome to hear yall's opinion on this trade I made today (and currently not regretting) and maybe an opinion on whether nostalgia/drive to play a certain title hinders your bargaining/haggling ability

PS1 FF Chronicles FFIV + Chrono Trigger (GH Edition), PS2 Art Of Fighting Anthology, PS2 Contra Shattered Soldier, PS2 Deus Ex The Conspiracy, PS2 Heavenly Guardian in exchange for The Legend Of Zelda Collector's Edition GC (the one w/ OG Zelda, Zelda dos, Ocarina y Majora)

What do yall think? Fair trade, or did my nostalgia to play Majora get the better of me?

edit: Jus so yall know, I hadn't beaten FFIV or Chrono Trigger, but have beaten 3 of the 4 Zelda games contained on the disc I traded for, and have felt the urge recently to revisit and replay those titles, thus the potential "nostalgia blinding my bargaining" angle. Also, every disc I traded is CIB and pristine, whereas the disc I got has no manual

Value wise you came out ahead, so I'd feel it was a good trade. You basically traded $30 worth of games for a game currently going for around $50, Zelda Collector's Edition seems to have gone up a bit recently. You're missing the instructions but it's still worth more than what you traded.

Quality over quantity. You did good. Besides the first game is more available and cheaper then the GC game

Value wise, you did ok on the trade. You certainly didn't lose.

If you combine that with the fact that you wanted the game to relive old memories, I think it makes the deal that much better.

It can be debated, but I don't think there is any real right answer as there are just so many factors to consider. I have every one of these games other than Deus Ex The Conspiracy but I'm a bit complex with my sense of value.

Some things to consider. Did you buy these brand new at retail? If so, that's about $190 I think. I bought every one of those new so my investment is about $150 or so. As said already, you did make out well on current book value, but that's assuming you also paid current book value as well. I consider what I actually paid even though I do realize most games go down in price badly.

So then you have to factor in how much use did you get out of these games. FF4/CT I barely touched as I played the SNES ones to the ground. I bought it (and the other FF collections) mostly because they were cheaper than the SNES carts. Those carts I immediately flipped.

AoF sorta sucks (I'm not big into fighters) and I don't think I put two hours into that, but I wanted it because it's a classic collection of games from my youth and I have the other fighter collections like it. CSS I've yet play, but it's on my to do list. I've heard the newer Contra games are not that good so I've never been that enthused to bother with it.

HG I've played at least 5 hours on day one and have not touched it since. So even if I paid today's prices for these games, I probably didn't get very good value for my dollar but at the same time I wouldn't get rid of them either. They are not exactly "crap" games which I feel embarrassed to have in my collection. They all hold certain memories and fondnesses which makes giving them up pretty hard.

If you feel you'll get more use and love out of that Zelda collection and those other games don't exactly mean much to you, then you made the right deal, regardless of actual value. The tricky part about asking a forum is that people tend to revisit Zeldas as much as they do with FF4 and CT. It could start a flame war as you are asking others to put value to three incredibly beloved series. The other games involved are almost inconsequential as I don't think they have that huge of a following. I don't think I could pick between these two game collections myself on a deeper level than current book value. They both have my equal love and are firm parts of my personal collection.

In terms of quality, I'd say it's an even trade, I don't like Majora's Mask, and for how much the games are worth, I'd say the Zelda collection.

All of the titles I traded for were in great complete condition, having bought them new with the exception of the FF / CT PS1 game, but that one was in good condition too. Insert for the Zelda CE GC game is in fairly good condition, but yeah overall I am happy with the trade. It's definitely all subjective, but all I got to say is "revisiting" is awesome!!

Phew I'm glad I never sold any of my Gamecube games and kept them in good shape. As a teen I bought a second Gamecube just to get The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition bundle and replace my worn purple controller with a fresh one in the process on top of that. I knew this Zelda could be had cheaper by subscribing to Nintendo Power and choosing it as my bonus item, but I had already renewed and chosen a Player's Guide as my bonus before this offer existed, so it would have been impossible without ordering a pointless second subscription (if you were even allowed to do that).

I intended to give my old Gamecube to this girl I liked for Christmas since she didn't have one yet but her parents and older brother were tired of us tying up the phone lines all the time in the evenings and when she told me we had to stop talking all the time she also revealed that even though I had feelings for her she only liked me as a friend. So I packed up my old Gamecube sans the Super Smash Bros. Melee pack-in and box (as I wanted to keep the game and the system box added no value to the trade-in) and brought it in to Game Crazy for a good deal of store credit which I used to buy some nice cart only Genesis games including Ristar, Genesis 6-Pak, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Flicky and a second copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 because my old one stopped saving. I think I got a couple PS1 games too that night.
