does anybody know if the standard for sealed games for N64 follows the NES guidelines. because i bought some N64 games today and they some looked factory sealed and the others did as well but they didn't have the seam.......so the ones without i opened......only to find out they are new? so........and are there any value in these? i picked up a copy of star wars the empire strikes back, minty mint still sealed today and i plan on keeping it that way. but is there a future for these?
any information helps :-D

I'm not exactly sure what it is you're talking about (pretty broken up, dude). You found some factory sealed N64 games? You also found The Empire Strikes Back for NES sealed? Is this what you're trying to say? If so, "big whoopie" :| on the first and "that's pretty cool ($$$cha-ching)" on the second.

What's not to understand?
He found some games in plastic. Some were sealed with seams. Some without. He opened the ones with no seams and found they were also new. He's wondering if there was a standard to how games were wrapped. And if new games were worth more.
I'd say, now that you opened the plastic, they're worth less than they were before. D'OH!

I was also confused about the ESB thing. Does he mean, Shadow of the Empire, and is it the gold or red packaging?

The ESB is probably another game he got. The NES version ALSO in box.
But we can't know for sure until he replies in plain legible English. Hope he didn't forget about the thread.

I dont know about the factory seams, but there probably will be some future. The kids who grew up with the N64 will be the same ones collecting it 15 years from now. So, just wait about 15 years and if you happen to have stored away the right game --- cha-ching :-D . But, if you stored the wrong game (example- Destination Earthstar or, as it was put timelessly in a gamefaq review, Destination Trashbin LOL LOL LOL for the NES), well, doorstops are always needed ;)

By Red or Gold I suppose that means Original vs. Players Choice? I know the Players Choice SNES games had gold trimmed boxed. Did the N64 ones also?

Im pretty sure the N64 ones just have a gold ribbon with million seller on it and is otherwise the same as the original.

Nope, SNES did have Player's Choice (greatest hits). Also if my memory serves me correctly the NES had its own version called Classic Series, but I could be wrong on that one.

That's right, there was Zelda 1 and 2, Blades of Steel, and Metroid. I think those are the only four.

Whoops :embarrassed: :embarrassed: forgot about "Iron" Mike being replaced! No, there's no classic version of SMB 3 as far as I know.

just to get things really clear........i really dont think anybody has confirmed whether new N64 games all have to have the seam or if only some of them did. that was the main reason for this post........

Blades of Steel wasn't reissued like that? The "Classic Series" was:
Punch-Out
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Metroid
Metroid had new yellow label, and the Zelda's were gray carts.
SNES had a ton of 'Players Choice' games, and also along with Sega there were those Majesco reissues but I'm not sure if those count. I have quite a few of these for the SNES and Genesis, as I bought my SNES new (KI Set) in fall of 1997 (late bloomer, eh?) and my GEN used in 1999 or so.

Blades of Steel definately was reissued, I have it. It had a red label the second time. I will try to find an ebay auction and post the link here.

Many brand-new, shrinkwrapped N64 games do not have "the seam."

Wow! I wasn't even aware of that. What others were in the series?

As far as I am aware, this "series" consisted of only this one game.
