Ever since I got a wii u for Christmas I've been loving it! Just bought Runner 2 it's so much fun! Also my brother just got a wii u, we did video chat a few times, it's pretty damn funny allowing you both to draw on the screen while chatting. I continue my Nintendo love.

That makes two of use. Got my kids one also for Christmas, and this system has some very good games that can be only found on it, which you all know that means Nintendo made games.

Love it. I don't think people understand the usage of the gamepad. Never mind just being in bed playing some call of duty ghosts, grab a friend and you do not need a second tv. It's so awesome for local multiplayer. I just got Super Mario 3d world but havent cracked it open yet.

I also kind of like the smaller community of the online games. Sure you might not get people in games you want, but its fun running into players youve played with before.

yea I like mine a lot, i'm thinking I made a good move even if I was able to get a PS4 at 25% off before xmas through work.
I got the New super Mario combo, that made a bit more sense to me than the Nintendoland one but I will get nintendoland when it drops in price.

the games I got for it so far are Wonderful 101 and Scribblenauts Unlimited and I downloaded NES Remix.
so far I have only played Mario bros, beat it. and NES Remix. lately I've been playing the new Zelda game on 3ds because my wife got me one of those for xmas too so it was a very Nintendo xmas this year

I bought a Wii U recently and it include's nsmbu, ive been really enjoying the game to.I also have ultimate monster hunter 3 for it and play little bit offline but i haven't put any full time into it yet.Recently as well i downloaded (mighty switch force) id say thumbs up for that game but i usually enjoy wayforward efforts in gaming. Now i haven't had much problem using the tablet controller and it is comfortable, but i think it's a bit cumbersome to use.The only thing that annoyed me the most was setting up the console to sync it's controller and all.

I'm a new Wii U owner and also enjoying it quite a bit.

My biggest complaint is the inability of Wii U gamepads to be utilized as Wii Classic Controllers in Wii mode.

This. I want to play xenoblade. last story and other games that uses classic controller, and why not wii virtual console instead of buying the games twice

I doubt they'll ever add that one, as the system itself resets itself and boots the old Wii mode up so it loses access to the WiiU functions like that. At least they allowed the WiiU pad to be used as a small television for Wii games since the IR bar is on the face to the sides of the camera.

I've got one, and I think it just keeps getting misunderstood by the average person who would happily buy it if they knew one, it existed, and two, it wasn't an accessory for the Wii. The games are more than enough there for your average person and enough variety too if they're Wii carry overs as those 360/PS3 games it did receive would be fresh as well. I know from my use which is off and on as I've been in a gaming funk since my kid came around (inconsistent motivation) I'm enjoying it more than the Wii and it doesn't make me hate it like the Wii did off and on. I just think people on both sides (consumers and developers) should grow up and give it a fair shake as then it would get more support which in turn would allow more hardware to sell.

After many months of waiting, I started to doubt that they would ever add support for outputting 4:3 Wii games in 4:3 when the Wii U was set to a HD resolution. Yet after a year of waiting, Wii U as of last October or so only stretches 16:9 Wii games and pillarboxes everything else just like it should and it does it all automatically.

That they fixed that and added gamepad streaming support for Wii mode 12 months into the Wii U's life still gives me a glimmer of hope that it will be rectified in the future if possible.

Probably my 2nd complaint would be battery life. But with this charge stand, it's not too bad and there's now an extended life battery from Nintendo if I ever get really fed up with it.

I wouldn't say that I "love it", but I do enjoy it. Beat both of the Wii U Marios and I'm playing through Pikmin 3 now as well.

My biggest gripe so far is the battery life of the Gamepad, I feel like I have to charge it every time I'm playing.

The reason they can't have the gamepad used as a classic controller in Wii mode is that the gamepad uses wifi to communicate with the system, and Wii mode just doesn't understand that sort of controller, just bluetooth and gamecube (which is usetless for Wii U as it has no ports). However, they really don't have a good excuse for not being able to use a Pro controller, as that one does use bluetooth.

As for the gamepad itself, I love it. Not heavy at all, very comfortable (which I found surprising as it looks awkward as hell), and a lot of potential uses. Maybe the devs don't always use it right, but the potential is there.

Only issue is battery life. And not just how short it is when playing, but even with the system off. Don't play a few days after giving it a full charge and you'll still already be down a few bars. I suspect it's that they have the wifi antenna powered up constantly, due to the way turning on the system with the front power button or a Pro controller or even a Wii remote manages to make the gamepad turn on as well. Apparently they think it would be too hard to turn on yourself so instead screwed over standby battery life. I've taken to actually disconnecting the battery when not using it, and that fixes the problem, but is a bit of a hassle due to needing a screwdriver to open the battery compartment. Yes, I could just keep the thing plugged in when not using it, but I'd rather only charge when actually needed, not to account for Nintendo's minor design flaw.

Fortunately the Pro controller has no such issue and just about the longest controller battery life I've ever seen. I don't know how they managed to do so well with one and so poorly with the other. Obviously the big screen sucks a lot of power, I'm not expecting 80hr miracles but they still should have done better there.

I do love mine, super mario bros wii u was fantastic and mario 3d world was great except for how they made the green stars necessary. I had to buy the strategy guide. I'm halfway through sonic lost world and it's good to. I cant wait to get my hands on donkey kong country tropical breeze next month. And of course mario kart 8 is on gonna be the shits tits.@_@

1 easy gold coin away from 100% in New Super Mario Bros. U. :(

Had such a good time that part of me wants to rush straight on to New Super Luigi U and another part of me wants to save it for later on rather than possibly having it become a drag by doing too much of this series in just a few weeks time.

Plus, who knows when another will come along. I assume this isn't going to mark the end of this franchise, but at the very least I doubt that the Wii U will get another new 2D Mario platformer.

It might be that simple but on the other hand, it might not.

People proclaimed similar statements that the Wii when in GameCube mode was such a strict replica of the original hardware that Nintendo's hands were tied where allowing the Classic Controller to substitute as a GCN gamepad was concerned. Yet today via Homebrew Channel, not only can you play GCN disc images on a Wii U via Wii mode despite the complete absence of GCN controller ports, you can also utilize Classic Controllers in GCN mode on original Wii hardware via the same homebrew hack.

So what you put forth, while a sound theory, should still be portrayed as theory in the absence of a definitive explanation from Nintendo themselves that it's an impossibility. It's a very logical assumption but that's all it is.

A update since I last posted here. Have since got the Lego game, Mario 3D World, and had the Mario and Luigi game that it came with. Not wanting a Xbox One or PS4 even a little. I am happy with this system, and wish Nintendo would drop the price so that others can see it is a good system. With big games down the pipeline.

The difference there is that you aren't actually using the Wii/WiiU's Gamecube mode with those controllers, you're using Devolution which is an emulator (or something similar, not sure of the exact technical details) and doesn't switch into the Wii's Gamecube mode. On the WiiU you couldn't even switch to GC mode in the first place since there's no MIOS (which runs GC mode) on the vWii mode at all.

The Wii/U already knows how to talk to bluetooth controllers, so now that you aren't switching to GC mode and turning off bluetooth, it's not that hard to get it to talk to a remote+Classic Controller/CCPro, a U Pro controller, or even a PS3 controller, but it still has no way to talk to a wifi controller on its own.

Now, maybe someday a hacker can manage to get it working, if so great, but I wouldn't be surprised if it required the actual WiiU to be hacked instead of just vWii and then running Wii games through a method other than the built in Wii mode, just so it knows how to talk to the wifi controllers.

It's not an emulator. The two workarounds for Wii/Wii U run GameCube software natively.

And really, how could you even think that the Wii was capable of emulating the GameCube when it's little more than a slightly souped up GameCube itself? Yet this same modification which works the same way as it does on the Wii U's Wii mode allows for GCN software to be played on the first Wii revision that dropped GCN support.

No one will agree me me for saying this, but I will always believe one of the biggest reasons it is failing to sell well is because of its name. One of the dumbest things Nintendo did was including the "Wii" in its name. They should have stuck with the "Stream" or "Feel" name or that other one (I forget) that was rumored. Those are not good names either, but at least the "Wii" is removed.

I'm sick to death of the media calling the death of the Wii U and the death of Nintendo - whatever makes a good story - I've only played it in store and I thought it was very cool. I loved the interaction of the controller screen and the main screen - innovative and good exercise for my old brain. Super Mario U looks like New SMB but screw it, it was fun as hell.
I don't actually have it but I would get it in a second, cash permitting..

Sadly, it's the financials that matter and that area is miserable.

Good system for the dedicated Nintendo fan though. I'll never regret acquiring mine thanks to several modern Nintendo classics and excellent backwards compatibility. It's not full of the latest EA Sports releases and the latest iteration of the popular online multiplayer shooters, but that's not why I bought it for. If Zelda U indeed arrives next year and more of my Virtual Console library becomes available for upgrading to full Wii U versions, I'll be fully satisfied.

Anything else neat like the upcoming 90's Arcade Racer will just be icing on the cake.

I've read in other forums what you feel and many other people agree. I thought it was a joke when it was rumored they were going to give it the name. Stupid move.

yea they definitely should have taken "wii" off of the system to avoid confusion. I mean there was a whole word between Nintendo and super Nintendo to differentiate the two as well as major looking hardware differences but in the age of discs they should have thought a little more about a simple thing like a name to help further it from the previous system but leaving a little bit to suggest it'll still work with the older stuff.

and way odd side note, lately at work I have been selling out of wii u's. they aren't exactly flying off the shelves but they are definitely moving more units than before and I cant keep them in stock.

I wonder if people were waiting for the other systems for some reason?

Surprisingly, my girlfriend initially thought this was just a different version of the Wii, and had no idea it was a completely new console until I explained it to her. I really don't think it's killing the system, tho in sales. I will be picking one up sometime this year, I think, cuz I want to expand on my current-gen consoles, and the Wii U is very cheap.

I don't care how much is selling, I do know that I love Nintendo and always have, and I will support. I don't ever wanna play Mario on a console that doesn't have Nintendo on it, either. They absolutely have been leading the way in terms of where gaming technology has been headed, the past 8 years, I know very little about the Wii U, but I'm sure it's awesome. I was super impressed with the Wii once I finally was given one by my mom, who thinking it was broken bought a new one, and gave me her old one to fix. It works perfectly, its amazing, end of story.

Well going forward since I last posted I see the system at retail but very few of them on the shelf. It seems to be the middle system now that the holidays have shaken out. PS4 is slim to none, the Wii U is picked over but can be had with little effort, and the One is basically a wall of decent disinterest hardware sales wise. I can't say I feel bad for MS at all given how they handled the last generation launch screwing the xbox owners over and the market in general rushing it out there (including their own market with the revolving door of repairs and replacements.)

I don't regret having mine, but I do regret the asinine treatment of third parties uniquely saying we won't make games until millions of systems are sold, spitting in the face of like 30 years of console history. That regret is it because I can't just have one console and get all my fix from it, but I did expect as much because Sony has become the new Nintendo when it comes to badass A level first and second party games both in quality and variety which they also have on MS and their halo, gears and forza orgy along with the ton of fps titles. I can't apply myself with a 2 year old at this point in life much to a console anyways so I have like 10 Wii U games which only half are finished as I'm too tired or occupied with other junk in the evening to finish stuff. Just last night I got to the final world of Super Mario 3D World and I am not even trying to get every star (hate that), just enough to crack open the stages.

Sony has been the new Nintendo ever since day 1 with the original Playstation. The N64 was a great system, but it was #2 in sales for some good reasons. I did only own a 360 the last generation, though, and I don't regret it at all. It's a slim, and it's a fantastic system. The original is a piece of garbage, but the slim has served me well. No regrets. That being said, I am most definately not goin with the new Xbox, at least right now. I'll prolly wind up getting it eventually 5 years from now, I always tend to acquire all the consoles sooner or later anyway. Never owned a PS3 though. At this point I'm just waiting to get a PS4 and I'll use the emulation thing to play what I've missed. Top of the list is Metal Gear Solid 4.

ugh I hate my 360's. the only thing good about them is the wired controller works on my PC but the d-pad sucks so hard core.
its to the point that I don't think i'll ever buy them in thrifts, even to resell. I dislike them that much.

Nintendo 64 was an ok system but what killed it for me was the controller, what were they thinking?
gamecube got a little better and we all know the direction they went with on the wii and that was a wise move but man the 64 controller, all I can say is it came in some pretty cool colors
