Would u like them to go back to the old school horror-styled RE games?
Or something like RE5?
Or a combination?
Or something different?

How about a mix of the horror style to give good fright, but with a modern camera and control system. The one failing to me with RE above all else was the asinine concept of broken controls and bad camera angles create a horror filled environment. I've never liked the idea of being afraid of shitty controls and bad camera getting me killed. Dead Space (original) totally for me proved that it was 100% doable to make a game that plays with modern camera and controls yet can still create one hell of a creepy environment that makes you just nervous going from room to room hoping you don't get your face eaten off. I know RE6 was a love/hate thing with people who are into the series which is probably why you said RE5, but RE really needs to keep moving forward with the times. RE Revelations did a good job on 3DS, then consoles, in how you can make a third person game in the RE world where it can have a fright, but not have control problems that'll get you killed.

abandon all that over the top, dudebro shooter cod missles out the sky, zombies with uzis bullshit and bring it back down to earth (as far as a game about zombies can be brought to earth)

storywise, abandon that whole las plaga shit and go back to umbrella and stars team.

you know what else i always wanted to see but never happened? at least one game where you play the entire thing from hunk's perspective. a REAL game, not minigame or that bullshit operation raccoon city. maybe it could span the entire original series and you can see it from the other side how hunk and company were affecting stars outcome from behind the scenes

oh and finally but most obvious, bring back horror, make running away a more viable option than machinegunning 200 zombies with near infinite ammo

Nothing.

As far as I'm concerned they've already ruined the franchise so I couldn't care less what they do with it from now on.

I want Resident Evil 7 to run at a butter smooth 60 frames per second on PlayStation 4, like the very first concept trailer Capcom showed for Biohazard 5 @ the 2005 Tokyo Game Show.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdKlvjOQn-s

That trailer, like Konami's first MGS4 trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaeYAW89a3M) also at 2005 TGS, was not exactly prerendered CG, but running real time on an overpowered PS3 development kit which was really nothing more than a PC with dual graphics cards (GeForce 7800 SLI) which had a hell of lot more graphics power and RAM/VRAM than either Xbox 360 or what would be in the actual final consumer PS3 console when it released in late 2006.

Also, more HORROR,

They need to make another game based on the Outbreak engine. Outbreak and Outbreak 2 were both before there time, before online gaming on consoles became a big thing. The biggest problem with Outbreak was that without the PS2 HDD, there were long loading times, but it was a progression to the classic Resident Evil style that pushed the series one direction while Resident Evil 4, released afterwards and ended up selling better when ported to the PS2, took the series into another direction.

If Outbreak and Outbreak 2 happened to sell well on the PS2, we would have seen it be it's own spinoff series, and last gen when there were a lot of co op multiplayer games, I think a sequel would have did really well. People were hoping Operation Raccoon City was going to be what they were looking for as an Outbreak game, yet it's just another third person shooter with nothing what Resident Evil used to be.

Anyways, Outbreak is like past Resident Evil games except in all areas, zombies could follow you from one location to another, as could other monsters in the game. Few areas had where zombies would actually keep coming. It also required the Resident Evil progression system where you were required to find certain items to get past a certain area. You had eight characters with their own unique starting capabilities, like starting with a gun, having a medical pouch, having a toolbox to combine weapons, a lockpick kit, etc. If you were to add all locations together, the length of each game was longer than your standard classic Resident Evil, and it added more replay value with the multiple characters having different skills, other unlockable characters(which were based off the original eight,) and receiving scores at the end of the stage.

Hopefully Capcom thinks that doing a classic style game might help get their fanbase back and they do something like Outbreak. With how all devs are really pushing the co op/multiplayer gameplay with games like Titanfall, Destiny, The Division, The Crew, Deep Down, etc, for this new gen, maybe Capcom should do the same. This time they should be able to make a game that doesn't have ridiculous load times.

A simple, original story that doesn't rely on shoehorning in existing characters and making the existing mythos any more ridiculous (i.e. kidnapped super Jill with spider-heart mind control). I think less narrative would be more. Also, no smart zombies or Napoleon children. No partner or escort bits. No multiplayer. Survival. Horror. With jump scares. Gosh, reading what I just wrote, I've mostly focused on things I don't want..

To be honest, I think it's reboot time for the series (and I don't mean another remake of RE 1). Of course, for Capcom, that would mean farming it out to Ninja Theory and turning it into glittery, vegetarian zombies and ANGST OUT THE ASS.

A good replay value.

I love Resident Evil, across the board. I haven't played all of the games (I've never played Survivor or Outbreak games, for example), but I've enjoyed every Resident Evil game that I've played (less so Zero), including Operation Raccoon City. It's not that I'm biased to the series either. I'm one of the biggest Silent Hill fan, more so than Resident Evil probably, but there are installments that I really didn't like (like 4: the Room for example). I just really liked most of the Resident Evil game I've played, even if I haven't always appreciated the evolution and modernizations of the series as much as everyone else.

With all that said, I really would appreciate them bringing back some of the things that people don't really miss, namely puzzles and limited ammunition, making it more viable to run from enemies than blow them all away with chain guns and RPGs with near limitless ammo.

The MAIN thing that I'd like to see though is the COMPLETE ABANDONMENT of QTEs in ALL future Resident Evil games. I freaking HATE quick time events so much. I never cared for Dragon's Lair game play, and I absolutely don't want it in my modern gaming experience. Honestly, does ANYONE enjoy QTEs? I hate escort missions too, but there are several that I've actually enjoyed, where as there's NEVER been (obligatory) QTEs I've EVER enjoyed in a video game. I'd even be wiling to meet them halfway; I'd accept QTEs in moderation if they REMOVE THE HUGE BLINKING BUTTON on the screen that detracts from the overall experience and reminds me that I'm ABSOLUTELY playing a video game. I used to dislike the way that items in RE games would shine brightly, rather than the game just have the characters look at them when they go near them like they used to do in Silent Hill games. It's less of a distraction that way, and keeps you in the moment. Flashing buttons for QTEs (and flashing items, to a lesser extent) just kill my gaming buzz. :(

I like it "if the series went back to it's roots" to much focus on action in the recent ones.Still the story is so convoluted at this point, maybe capcom should consider rebooting re instead.

This series has one of the worst fanbases ever. No matter what RE7 is plenty of folks are going to complain and complain and complain.
