I dropped by an estate sale and picked up a couple tg-16 items. I found the turbo booster plus and a power adapter for the tg-cd. This is the first time I've ever seen any TG-16 stuff at a sale. Is this a good item to have around if I ever get a TG-16? I don't know much about the system.
I was wondering if there was a power adapter that went with the turbo booster? Or, do you just plug in the TG-16's power adapter into the turbo booster? I'm asking since systems with addons, like the genesis, have power adapters for both parts. I didn't know if that would be the case with this. I haven't decided if I'm keeping this and I want to know if I'm missing something. The power adapter and turbo booster plus only cost me $7.50. I think I got a good deal.

You got a great deal. Turbo boosters and booster pluses go for high prices on Ebay. I'm still in search of one myself, but I'm waiting for a miracle price reduction somewhere, or to be a lucky son of a bitch like you to find it for that price.

If the Booster Plus works, that's a miraculous deal! The Booster provides composite AV from the TG-16, while the Plus model also has game saving ability for certain games. It uses the standard TG-16 AC Adapter. The CD adapter is I think a different AC Adapter.

Awesome score, man. Really, Turbo stuff is scarce in the wild, and that's a great item to cop at a great price. IIRC, the standard TG adapter is all that's needed.

It's good to know that it just uses the standard TG-16 adapter. I picked up the TG-CD adapter just cause it's for a less common system. $2.50 for that was good. As for the booster plus, I have no idea if it works. I don't have a TG-16 to test it.

Great deal. Been wanting a booster for so long.

Stellar deal you got then if that's all you paid. Good job getting it at the pre-hype bullshit era pricing on that. It's a fantastic item to have for the TG16 short of owning a Duo because it gets you off using RF. I'd hold onto it and piece yourself together a nice slick TG16 to use, or if you have no interest you'll more than make your money back many times over.

almost the best way to get into TG16. The boosters are as much or more than the console itself.
Least modding composite it easy to do. II ended up doing that because I felt the booster would never be worth paying for unless i could find one cheap like this.

I'm more than a little bit jealous. I've never seen TG-16 stuff in the wild, but stories like this keep the false hope alive.

Yea, I was surprised to find it too. I don't usually go to estate sales, but this one belonged to a doctor, advertised a snes, and was in a nicer neighborhood. I passed on the snes since they bundled it at $110. Even at half off on Saturday, I passed. The actraiser games and a castlevania game were tempting, but I didn't need another snes.
I never really figured I would run into any TG-16 stuff in my area. There are a lot of resellers and I think my area is a bit tapped out when it comes to game stuff. I think I might keep it in case I ever manage to find one of those systems. I could always sell it though, and put that money towards a Duo system. Those have the CD built in right?
Edit: added a pic

Yes, the TurboDuo is a TG16+TGCD combined, pretty much like a X'EYE (Wondermega in Japan) is for Genesis+SegaCD (before anyone mentions CDX, that's a combo too, but the form factor of the X'EYE is much more like the Duo).

Also worth noting with the Turbo Duo, it has a little bit better hardware inside stock. It also has the highest release of the CD System Card installed on board, with the TGCD addon you have to buy that extra. And I'm sure you knew it, but the CD drive (either) is region free so you can play whatever. It's a solid device, but if you get one, get one that has had the entire board gone over with every capacitor changed if you can't do it yourself because they're very highly prone to dropping dead supposedly.

It's a later release than the system card that comes with a TurboCD, but it still won't play everything. Some of the later Japan games need extra RAM so they put out an even better card (which I don't think actually came out in America) so even though CD games are region free, you're still not completely in the clear with just a Duo.

You're thinking of the Arcade Card. There are really only a dozen titles that require it, though one of them is the quite awesome Sapphire.

Guess I got lucky. I got my first TG-16 with the regular booster at value village for $7.99 about 5 years ago.

I knew of the arcade card, but given the other post there you can see why I didn't mention it. ;) It was like the hucard version of the supergraphx, potential for sure but nothing to write home about. If you got a Duo you can run virtually any disc that matters.

Nice find!
I'm glad I had the opportunity to pick up a boxed Turbo Booster ($5) when used gaming stores were clearing out the TG-16 stuff. I often visited a little store called Floppy Joes in Plano that carried a lot of TG-16 stuff, and it was at that store that I had also bought my TG-16 for $20.
