So I was given this and told if i could fix it I can have it. Now this is a sega hantat handheld and there are two problems.

1 It sounds horrible. Sour notes across all titles. Streets of rage 2 never sounded so bad.

2 the down on the d pad is more like down and right.

Has anyone worked on one of these or had similar issues. Any info on this console is greatly appreciated.

Also whats up with the sd card slot?

The sound issue is the same on all of them, simply a result of the shit emulation used on the device, not much to be done sadly.
The Dpad issue sounds like something one could possible fix by taking it apart and poking around but if you are not handy doing such things just hope someone who is replies..............

I was able to fix the dpad by replacing the contacy pads on the little cup pieces. Thats a shame about the sound. Not only am i a retro gamer but also a musician. I remember most songs from my favorite games and to hear them scream in pain makes me sad.

Thanks for the info. At least now i know theres no cap or reflow issues.

First time I saw one of those with a friend I told him that the sound was going to suck ass on it. When building SoC designs (or emulation for that matter) the timing and sound almost always suffers for the Genesis. I guess they assume most people won't notice or won't care and push the product to market anyway.

Nothing beats the real thing.
