Recently, I've been watching the XXII Winter Olympics and it made me thought of how much I enjoyed SSX Tricky and SSX 3. The last time I played the SSX (2012) game, it was alright for me but the thing that really killed it for me was that there was no real time racing against AI. I liked SSX3 and SSX Tricky because of that aspect of the game. This recent one is simply racing against AI ghost's personal times. I know they added real time multiplayer online but I really wished they stuck with real time races when it came to the AI races. Maybe I am being to harsh, maybe I am not. What are your opinions?

I am pretty sure there are races against computer opponents in SSX. I havent played it in awhile, but I am pretty sure there are races. SSX is the only one in the series I have played and I think its a great game. If you put the effort into mastering the controls its an excellent game.

I thought all races, on the single player side, weren't real time races and were just races against ghosts.

No, not at all. Unless we are thinking of different SSX games, I think it was released only on ps3 which is what I have.
On each of the different mountains there are different tracks which you unlock. You have to unlock them in 'world tour' first, then you can revisit-them in 'Explore'. Each event is either a Race, Point-scoring competition, or a survival run. Some Mountains you can do all 3 events on. With the races you do race against 3 other computer opponents as well as your 'ghost' which is your best recorded time for the track. My favorites are the courses where you have to do tricks. Some of the survival runs get pretty intense, especially the icy level, very intense without the ice axe.

If you give it another try im sure you will like it. Game plays alot like tony hawk, when you get air you do alot of tricks. More tricks you do, more points and you go into tricky mode which is awesome, you then get unlimited boost.

It also has a fun leveling up element where you buy different and better gear which ups your stats like speed and tricks.

These games really were great. I have the 2012 game, haven't played it much, tho. I actually preferred Shaun White Snowboarding, cuz it's more realistic, and being a snowboarder myself, I prefer it. SSX 3 and Tricky and On Tour were great though.
