was wanting something with turbo, because its handy, but almost all the domestic game pads have bizzare dpads the SSS Joycard is the only one with a regular dpad I can seem to find for a decent price.

its this one:

has any one used it? its basicly a famicom style in grey (same thing as the over seas ver.) except it has a headphone connector too. I thought it was just a hold over for the casing on the controller but apparently on the NES controller connector it Y's off with an rca plug to go to the audio out so that's kinda cool... but is it a crap card is what I am wondering.

I figure it was either that or buy a NES advantage with a broken joystick on ebay for ~$1 (+ship), 3d print a giant dpad, modify advantage case to fit....I might do that any way but as a last resort for the immediate future

It absolutely is worth owning!

I did an in-depth review of it in an episode of one of my webshows, The Controller Chronicles. It tells you everything about it, as well as shows it in action.

The only fault I have with it is that the dpad is a bit too sharp for my liking. So what I did was I took the nice soft dpad from an absolutely trashed DMG GameBoy and put that into the controller. The result is my preferred turbo controller for NES. I still like the NES-101 "dogbone" controller more, but this is the Hudson Joycard Mark III with the gimmicy headphone support that is still kinda cool.

This beats the hell out of a stock NES advantage, I'll say that at least.

I had one up to a couple months ago and sold it on ebay CIB. Oddly for a third party controller it doesn't suck, it's actually very good, and even the quirky 'stereo' audio is amusing as well as it takes the sound signals and splits some one direction and others the other way and it can be pretty trippy. It's a comfy to hold controller, Dpad is very responsive as are the buttons, and the turbo feature is well setup as well. I'm not a fan of buying third party controllers but that one is an exception to the rule as it's good.

I like mine, but I prefer the Japanese version because it isn't as thick.

eh, I've got giant hands and I was considering changing a NES advantage from a joystick to a d-pad controller remember, size is not of an issue....

I am still thinking of changing a advantage to d-pad still through, trying to figure out a way I cant make a new dpad at home, was thinking lately that possibly a vaccuform d pad shell filled with resin maybe

I don't know why anyone would do that, but to each their own. If you do attempt that, please document it with photos so that others might try the same thing.

Personally, I've never had a problem with the joystick part of the NES Advantage. It's the red B and A buttons that are problematic, and the NES Advantage is also too shallow to install proper microswitch buttons.

would be unique mainly. I'm not going to hack apart a perfectly working good one. There one on e bay I found with the joystick broken off, hard replacement with an oem so I figured I would try it with that.

Until then there's some sss joy cards on eBay too for about 15 shipped. I think I'll order one when I get home.

And Mr matrix. I did find your video. It was informative but I have one suggestion. Maybe go to Wal-Mart and get one of the cheap inexpensive little telescoping tripod. I've got one. It works pretty good.

That video was made before I started using a tripod, which has been for about a year now. I also have a new camera that films in widescreen 720p (and beyond but I dont bother to upload videos in 1080p because nobody watches youtube videos in 1080p, and it's not therefore worth the extra upload time for my slow slow internet).

I've been thinking of redoing my older videos and this one I just haven't gotten to yet.

also working up plans on a vacuuform machine aswell, I've got some idears

No it's fine. That was something that I wanted to fix from day one, if for no other reason than it frees up both hands to hold or manipulate whatever it is I'm showing on camera. Before I'd obviously need to hold the camera, which meant I was essentially only one handed until/unless I put the camera down on a pile of books or something. I tried several different tripods until I found one that works well. Now I don't have to worry about things like that anymore, and I think my channel has gotten a lot better for it over the past year.
