So with CGE behind us, we can get back to the scores of projects that were postponed until this time, one of which is the very often requested but never previously seriously approached compendium of Digital Press back issues.

Thanks to the help of my buddy Scott "superstonic" Stilphen, all of the DP back issues, from #1 in September of 1991 through #50 in March of 2003, including some of the special issues and extras we've mailed to subscribers over our 12 year history are now scanned in and available in electronic format. We're just about ready to produce a CD-ROM with these "complete works" for the very first time.

Surprisingly, there is still room on the CD, approximately 200mb worth, in fact. Now, this could be used for media/graphic files, photographs, or even a past edition of the DP Guide, but I'd like YOUR opinion on what you'd like to see in this extra space.

Considering that the CD will have all of this plus a custom interface, my second question is "how much would you pay" for such a thing? We did a semi-compendium on our 10-year anniversary which included only about 20 issues, DP Guide 6, and a basic interface and sold them all out rather quickly at $40. I really wouldn't want to charge more than that for this product, despite the fact that there will be much more content this go-round.

Your input is important to us! This could be ready to go as early as September 1st.

Since I already have book seven I probably wouldn't want to buy it again, so if that was left out I'd pay probably around $20-$25 for the cd. Unless maybe you could get together that pocket version of the book (if people decide what they want in it) and include that on the cd too and raise the price.

I know it will not happen but I would like to see a version of the digtal press guide made exclusively for palms...

I just restarted the pocket edition discussion of days past. This would be a good thing to add in that extra space, and answer the nagging problem of not undercutting the DP Guide sales. Forty dollars seems a bit steep, possibly the 25-30 range? It sounds like allot of work went into it with the custom navigation interface, but I think you would move allot more out the door in the 25-30 range. Forty does sound reasonable as well.

There were a couple other historical DP documents, weren't there? Like the original checklists that became the DPCG, the "tips & tricks" guide... Put in some of those.

And how much room did Sean's DPCD take up? Maybe include (some of) that?

As for cost, wow, didn't know the other disc went for $40... That might be a tough sell for me since I already have all the issues...

Hmm, maybe a couple Tony Fox tracks that you could play in the background? Or a historical archive of the Mystery Games (and/or possibly some classic news and/or threads from the web site too)?

$20-25 range sounds good

As for what to fill the remaining 200MB with...

Archive material reports from the website

Ideas for things to add to compendium...

How about a Ms. Space Fury emulator? I know the game will run in MESS, but it would be nice to have a self-contained emulator for it.

A retro DP site (or sites). Sorta like what you get when you use the Wayback machine, only get the links to actually work.

Atari Age scans? Is that legal?

Maybe add the pics you printed for the back of DP Guide 7.

As for the price, 40 bucks sounds about right, as you are sure to sell many many more this time around.

I think it would be cool to see one of the first editions of the DPG. See how it developed into what it is today. See some of the mistakes that were made. etc.

I agree, maybe DP Guide 1 and 2 (or just 1? How big are they). If one or both of these was included, I would say 25-30$.

How about scans of Joe's Collector's Corner articles, they're based from DP publications.

I'd like to see a DP guide for handhelds -- systems like the Game Gear, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Lynx, and others.
