The power supply for my duo has been missing for quite literally years, and i just found it! I wanted to check out the pile of discs and game cards i picked up at cge 2012 (that is how long it was lost) I hooked it up and played a bunch of the hucards just fine (all imports), however I tried to boot the disc games up and it just hangs on "just a moment..." looks like the discs are not spinning at all, is the system a lost cause? or is there a way to replace, troubleshoot the drive in it? I don't really want to buy a new system, but yeah any suggestions would be apreciated!

I had this same problem with a Japanese Duo. (wouldn't spin the disc) I replaced the laser and all the electrolytic capacitors, tweaked the laser potentiometer, nothing worked. I eventually said screw it and dropped $300 on a Duo-R, which I'm very happy with.

Sorry I couldn't give you better news, hopefully someone can come along and offer more help.

I had a smilar issue, CDRs and some originals wouldn't play at all. For the originals which did work, there was some video banding and the CD audio would mute suddenly then return when the next track played.

Long story short, I replaced the power adapter with a universal one with a higher amperage 1.2A then it's been working great ever since.
You could try that. Universal supplies are not expensive and, well, they're universal.
