So I just bought an awesome sony trinitron kv-32hs500. I found it for 50 bucks. It has 7 inputs. 2 of them are the 5 component hd. And one is a DVI - hdtv input. Are there any pros to these for retro consoles. I like the 2 s video and 2 rca aux but i want to know what I can get out of this.
My biggest problem is I dont like soldering on expensive consoles for mods. But if there are modded cables or av boxes I would love to know about them.
I want to use this for.
3DO
TG16
NES
SNES
N64
Sega/cd/32x
I like the picture but always like to know my options. Are there any DVI or Y/Pb/Pr/L/R cables or boxes that exist for any of these consoles? Or should I buy consoles specifically for av mods?

I have that exact same HDCRT Wega, a beautiful 4:3 set. Instead of the modding or adapters try the consoles with their best available output. For instance the SNES and N64 look pretty good with SVideo on a HD tube.
Maybe take a look at my CRT vs LCD Guide: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=204314#p204314

I tend to agree that using the best available output is plenty good but even though you're on a CRT, it's still HD...so you may need an upscaler. I hate that word because it makes me think it's modifying the source feed...which it is, but it's probably necessary to get it to work on your TV without looking like straight ass. I'm using this unit with my Japanese Saturn right now and Panzer Dragoon looks the same as it does on my excellent old Japanese Trinitron:

I do have an older trinitron for retro thats sd. But i do see this tv being better for s video since my older set doesnt have thay option.
Is this tv rbg capable using the hd component or no? If so what is the easiest way to obtain that output.
Also there is no hdmi it has that big dvi pc lookin port.

Also there is no hdmi it has that big dvi pc lookin port.DVI and HDMI carry the exact same signal. Adapters are readily available; they're entirely passive and just change the pinout.
However, I don't think any of those consoles you mentioned are capable of digital output.

Here's the one I'd try. If it doesn't work, at least you're only out $8. It will run from the box I linked above to the TV.

If it does work, you have a solution that works for most of the retro consoles.
