What's your favorite joystick for atari/spectrum/Amstrad PCs/Commodore computers and every console which supported atari 2600 joysticks? When you play atari you use tac 2 or wico? Vote! The only rules are: A. It must be for atari controller ports, no nes joystick or neo geo controller. B. You must post at least one joystick type controller, for example you can say: I like the slik stik but i prefer sega genesis pad.

I really like the Atari 7800 European D-pan controller.

I like to rock the Genesis 6-button Arcade Stick unless I'm playing a two button 7800 game, in which case I use the European 7800 controller. I think if I had a Wico, which I really have been meaning to buy one or two for far too long, I'd have trouble deciding between it and the Geni Arcade Stick. Back in the day my cousin had one (the baseball bat one) and it was controller bliss for both the 2600 and C64.

I'm a big fan of the Wico sticks myself, top notch quality.

Super-obvious casual Atari fan here, but for joysticks I always used these:

Nowadays I can't imagine using anything but a Genesis gamepad to play Atari games.

I always got the best reaction time out of my original Atari joystick with the rubber grip pulled out, just use the white plastic stick inside.

If you're using it with an actual Atari 2600, I'd go with the Coleco Gemini Controller (http://www.thestrong.org/online-collections/images/Z006/Z00653/Z0065388.jpg), since it also includes a paddle (which is compeletely jitter-free). If you're using it on anything else, I'd go with either a Slik Stik (https://stiggyblog.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/slikstick.jpg) or an Epyx 500XJ (http://images.australialisted.com/nlarge/vintage_atari_2600_similar_epyx_500xj_joystick_201 84917.jpg).

Having recently picked up a Gemini, I completely second the Gemini controller as the best DB-9 controller. Its one of the rare joysticks of that era that is comfortable for left handed people to use as well as right handed. Not only that, but the stick itself is top notch in feel and responsiveness.
