Hey everyone. So, I bought a Japanese NGCD, and to my dismay, the CD drive didn't work. It would barely start, then immediately stop. First, I held down the closed-lid button, but no go. Then, I lubed it up, moved it a bit, made sure it wasn't stuck, but still no luck. I ended up buying a new laser, and now it won't spin at all. I don't think it even recognizes a CD in there.. Anyone have any ideas on how to proceed? Is there anyone working on fixing these up? I don't want to spend a crap more ton of cash on it, but I'd rather save it then buy a new one.

Usually, replacement laser lens have solder on 2 points that you have to remove. Did you check that ?

It's called an anti-static point, it's usually located on the ribbon where you connect the laser to the mobo.
It's just a blob of solder bridging two pads.
