kind of an odd question but I was getting some extra systems ready to sell off locally and while I was testing them I noticed that some of them blink different colors when there isnt a game in there when you turn the system on.
I usually get ones that blink grey, but this batch had a dark green and I have seen blues before

I have one other that is a light blue/green color but its like that all the time so its coming apart again...

edit:
ok I thought the light blue/green system was toast but it seems that's the color this one shows when it sees no game...that's a new one on me.
on the plus side I don't even have to push the game down for it to come on any more

When it blinks, mine has always been yellow. Since replacing the connector and polishing my cart contacts, I don't see it any more.

Flack posted this 9 years ago and I remember thinking at the time, "Holy shit...that was 10 years ago??"

Meh. With so few active threads these days, I don't really think it's an issue anymore. IMO.

Usually blue. Although I tried to play a famicom with the adapter and it came out pink.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Somebody will bitch if you necro, somebody will bitch if you make a new thread instead. Just pick one and jump in, I say.

I could swear I've seen a list that correlates motherboard revisions with the no-cart screen color, but I sure as heck can't find it now.

The annoying thing is that it would have been within just the past couple of months, but I've got no idea if I'm just hallucinating fake memories. I'm guessing the color is related directly to PPU revisions, though.

Fairly elaborate explanation of what's going on:

Why don't we continue discussion on the old thread?

I guess I get boring Nintendo's because I'd say 99% of the time it's just gray. I've seen colors before but it usually was leading into a worse issue where something needed a repair or was heading to that point.

Yeah, that was an awesome knowledge bomb drop there. I also decided to stick with the old thread, because it was older. Plus I was the one who got to cast "revive" on it.

Mine's gray, all my friends ones back in the day were gray, I never knew they ever did anything other than gray.
