Yep, Rare is back... sort of. THQ will be releasing all the already-completed and in the can GBA titles created by Rare, starting with Banjo/Kazooie in October. Spiffy. DK Coconut Crackers and Banjo Pilot are going to follow.

Neato... hopefully they'll be good. Rumor also has it Donkey Kong Racing is going to be brought to the Cube via THQ.

And finally, rumor has it Nintendo is trying to buy the rights to the Banjo characters from Rare and Microsoft... both of whom are likely to do it since they aren't working on a Banjo game for X-Box and don't plan to.

Banjo and Kazooie have the single old lady demographic LOCKED. I'm dead serious.

very intresting. Let's see if T*HQ can keep their hands off the titles and just publish them.

Hey! I'm not THAT old! LOL I love Banjo-Kazooie. :embarrassed:

Hopefully if Nintendo does pick up the rights they'll finally manage a way to do a proper 'Stop 'N Swop' using the GBA.

THQ did a nice job with Phantasy Star Collection and other Sega games for the GBA. I'm sure they can do a fine job.

Hmmm, I rented Banjo-Kazooie for the N64 once. For some reason I could never really get into the platformer. I don't know why.

Hmmmm suprised Nintendo okayed these games, after claiming they got rid of rare due to lack of sales.....strange.

Well this time it's not on them if the sales go to hell, it's THQ who will take the loss.

Besides, all these games are already completed. Saber Wulf looks good too.

I'm suprised that Nintendo isn't going for some other Rare properties that they aren't using at this time. Like Killer Instinct for example. Granted, the last one bombed spectacularly, but KI is a property some people associate with Nintendo. Just like Banjo.

Funny, Nintendo now owns the rights to tons of properties they didn't even create, like Diddy, Dinosaur Planet, etc. Very very funny.

Here's an intresting sidenote to this whole story: With Microsoft's blessing, Rare offered Nintendo to complete all the GBA games they had already started and the two GCN games they had started that were close to being completed: Kameo and Donkey Kong Racing. Nintendo said no, of course, because they would be the ones taking a hit if the things bombed.

You know what? I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, but give them credit: they strive to make gamers happy. Not very many companies pay a ton of money to aquire a company and then turn around and let them release SIX games for opposing consoles. And that's Five more then they've released for the X-Box (the five are Star Fox Adventures, Banjo/Kazooie, DK Coconut Crackers, Saber Wulf, Banjo Pilot, and Mr. Pants). Granted, Microsoft gets the money these games earn. Hey, they have to try to make money with them somehow!!

I thought Killer Instinct was owned by Nintendo & Williams?

I thought Rare owned KI? Anyone know for sure?

On the subject of KI, I liked the first one but detested the second one and KI Gold for the N64. Another thing I didn't like about KI was the Combo Breakers... what's the point in making a game that centers around Combos when all you have to do is a simple little button tap to do a Combo Breaker and cause more damage to your opponent then the Combo would itself.

Any screenshots of these aviliable yet?

I loved Ki's character models and graphics and sound, but not being relaly big into fighting games (and sucking at them) I never did get much into the KI series. I did play it occasionally though with friends.
