My Sega Genesis Model has sound but it either has no video or shows a very distorted image (the image is wavy) depending on the television. On a new HD TV, there is no image at all. On a regular CRT TV, there is either no image or a wavy image that slowly disappears. It is not the cable either as I have tested the system using multiple cables. Any idea what the problem may be?

What type of cable are you using?

I have used 3 different cables. The original cable that comes with the model 3, the AV cable that came with my Sega Nomad (which is essentially the same cable) and a third party cable off Amazon. None work. I tested all 3 cables on the Nomad and all show video and sound without problem so I know it is not the cable. The AC adapter used is the official AC adapter that came with the Model 3.

Almost sounds like it is trying to output PAL or something. Maybe try with RF adapter if AV does not work.

After that I would want to test RGB signal going to the encoder.
