View Full Version : Animal Crossing Memory Card data

I've read that Animal Crossing came with a memory card that had some preloaded data. I've never played the game - is there any way to put that preloaded data onto the card again, as if nobody had played the game? Or does the game have an option to copy the original data to the memory card?

Or, if there's a save game somewhere that I can download, which can be copied to the memory card, that'd work too. I tried googling but I didn't get any decent results.

I don't recall it coming preloaded with anything, it just came with a memory card that was big enough for your town data and that was it.

It came with data as I recall.

Did it? I don't remember that. It's probably listed on the box, now I think of it, let me fish mine out.

As I recall, a letter and a gift of a few NES titles to get you started.

RIGHT, it was a letter from Nintendo and a copy of Donkey Kong.
But to actually answer the topic, not sure. Animal Crossing is one of those games that was hacked to pieces, so someone probably came up with something, but I can't imagine it's something that was in high demand during it's heyday. The item itself can be gotten easily enough with one of the universal codes.

Hm. Okay. Thanks for the answer to both of you.

(I've been trying to post this for days... stupid 503 errors.)

I think that memory has data in it that tells if it's been used or not. You only get the letter on the very first town you make. In other words, you'd probably have to get the data from an unused memory card.

Does every new human player moving into your town get the same letter? I honestly don't remember.

He can definitely do this. All he would need is a copy of the save and a way to interface a GCN memory card to a PC (Which has several options as I recall for methods to accomplish this).

A potential hurdle might be if the save was copy protected, but I imagine homebrewers got around that limitation long ago if it ever was a problem (as seen by how commonly available GCN memory cards with Animal Crossing saves used to be on eBay with a full selection of NES titles opened up and such).

I have one of those Gamecube Gamesave thingies (the memory card that has a mini USB port on it and you can copy saves to) somewhere. The first thing I did was look for a save game with the data, but I had no luck, and I figured someone here might know or have one handy. (My main systems are PC and PS2, I don't know much about the Gamecube.)

I -also- got some sort of a cheat disc for the game last weekend. I'm gonna look at it and see if it has an option for this somewhere. Hopefully it does.

I know of the disk you're talking about, I have one too, and it does not. As far as I'm aware (and I could be wrong about this, but I'm not getting any hits on it), there isn't a reasonable way to hack the mail system. A little poking around the AC communities tells me that the pack-in memory card has a data flag listed on it to send the letter to the first human to move in and then it's used up.

But, then again, what are you trying to do, exactly? Just trying to get a copy of the letter in your town? Just get the items? The items can be gotten via universal codes or the cheat disk you have, lot easier than some cumbersome PC hacking thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that he wants to get his Animal Crossing game into the state it was in when it was opened just for the sake of it being complete.

Nah, I just wanted to see what the deal with the original data was. If it's just a letter and a bunch of NES games... eh, no biggie.

If you're still interested in seeing the letter, I'm sure there are copies or screenshots of it floating around somewhere.

I'll hafta ask my roommate. She gets all into this game, and idk why, it seems awful lol. Well-made and all that, but she gets sucked in and hates her life playing it cuz all it is is building ur house and having people come critique it and stuff. I have it, maybe one day I'll give it a chance. It just seems like it takes FOREVER to play, and theres no way to finish.
