Let's start off the month with some 8-Bit SEGA goodness!
http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/pUEAAOSwVFlT4EIp/$_57.JPG
King's Quest
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars
Zillion II: The Triformation
Spellcaster
Aztec Adventure
Quartet
Penguin Land
Ghostbusters
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
Action Fighter
Shooting Gallery
Casino Games
Hang On/Safari Hunt
Monopoly (Mono Poly misprint version)
Great Golf
The total cost for this lot was $48, but there's 16 games so essentially $3 a pop. While some in there are only worth about that much (if that much) like great golf and Hang/On safari, the presence of a few midvalue games such as Quartet and Spellcaster I've been after, as well as more expensive games like the Alex Kidds and the surprisingly rare/valuable King's Quest port made this lot an incredible deal and a great way to expand on my tiny SEGA Master System collection.

Total Price Paid - $27
I don't think I even have to mention how infrequently a first or second-gen pokemon game is in a lot with this many games for under $30, let alone one including a nice selection of other good games.
I've got roughly half of the games in this lot worth owning, so it'll be easy enough to flip the doubles and the rest.

I picked up this Turbografx set off of Craigslist last month for $140. Everything was dirty but no deep scratches or cracks or broken hinges. The guy made clear that the CD was not working. After searching the internet awhile I determined it was caused by a gear that becomes yellowed and brittle. Luckily a guy on Ebay is selling them fro $20 and I installed it this week and everything is working great. I ended up burning Some CD-r to test and play and so far really like Splash Lake. I may end up doing a region mod on it to get a 3.0 card to play the vast majority of the games I want to play, or get bored and sell it.

I picked up a loose Japanese copy of Dynamite Duke for the Sega Mega Drive, and this thing's seen better days. Apparently somebody filed down the sides of the cart so it would fit in a US Genesis. I still bought it, since I find it hard to pass up imports in the wild even though they look like hell. $4.99.

Did well this evening, got 3 sealed PS3 games for $100 (Tomb Raider, Lego Movie the game, and Wolfenstein the New Order.)
Shame is I don't have a system yet, well in hand. Within 90sec of it hitting ebay 2 days ago I snapped up a brand new PS4 for $300 shipped, guy was short on tuition money, and better yet I had a $50 gift card so it was $250 out of pocket!

http://imageshack.com/a/img905/1742/UXhu39.jpg
METAL GEAR SOLID (PS1) $5 - Found at a local Goodwill. Immaculate condition. I'm actually currently playing it and will probably beat it this month. One of my better Goodwill finds I think.
METAL GEAR SOLID VR MISSIONS (PS1) $9 - Got off Ebay. I was actually hoping to get a copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence so I could have copies of the original MSX Metal Gear and Metal Gear: Solid Snake. But I couldn't find a copy for less then $15. So I held off. Got this instead. Decent condition.
MEGA MAN 2 (NES) $15 - Got at the local GameXchange. I impluse bought it when I saw it for less then $20. I didn't have it, and I really needed it for my Mega Man collection. Still need MM1 and 3.
FINAL FANTASY X-2 (PS2) $1 - Got at a local pawn shop. They had a dollar bin. I don't really care about FF, but for a dollar it could hurt to have it.
RESIDENT EVIL CODE: VERONICA X (PS2) $1 - Same pawn shop dollar bin. I like Resident Evil, and though I have the game for the Dreamcast already. It was a whole buck.
PROFESSOR LAYTON AND THE MIRACLE MASK (3DS) $10 - Gamestop has this on sale for $10 right now. I figured it was worth $10. I'm playing it right now. I may beat it. I like puzzle games.

I've been trying to find any SEGA Master system controller for less than the $13-15ish they average so I could play a few genpad-incompatible games. Things ended up a little differently...
http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/hesAAOSwQItT8qyf/$_57.JPG
$27
2 SMS Normal Controllers
2 Arcade Joysticks
1 Light Phaser
Both controllers and joysticks work perfectly, seller couldn't test the light phaser due to lack of non-HD TVs so it'll be a nice bonus if it works too.
Regardless, now I can play those wonderful games in my collection that hate the genny pad without snipping a pin off of a genesis controller. Let's see, there's Alien Syndrome...er, okay port, but what about...Carmen Sandiegoh.......yeeeeah....oh right, Penguin Land! Penguin Land is a good game!
I just spent $27 to play penguin land.
SUCCESS!
(Of course they'll work with other SMS games fine too, possibly lightgun games as well. Can probably resell one of each controller/joystick to make back some of the price.)

I actually found a SMS pad in a pile of random controllers a year or so ago at the flea market. I picked it up for a buck or two. So when I got my Power Base Adapter cart earlier in the summer I was all set!

Last time I posted I mentioned the 3 for $100 PS4 sealed games and that I had a PS4 in transit.
That deal got super slick as a stock image with a line of text paid off. That PS4 I got for $250 (w/50 gift cart I put to it) was even better. It was a Costco(looks like it) new bundle where they pull off the Sony tape and put some of their own, only after tampering with things in a very nice way. They put this ghetto white sticker label with poor color blocky print out on the front that featured three games which threw me off. When I opened it I found retail sealed copies of Knack(wanted this), Killzone and NBA2K14 (both don't want so selling them) but still that's $170 in games thrown in along with a 3Mo Playstation Plus card too ($18 value.)
I figure I'll get $50 back off those 2 sealed games in the end so I'll end up with a new PS4 for just $200. Can't beat that!

Thanks to crazy huge amount of built up Amazon credit and a small donation from my partner, I got a PS4 for $100 not including shipping.
It is now sitting behind me, hardly touched, waiting for the next Dragon Age or Kingdom Hearts.

Went to the Flea Market again this morning. Not nearly as exciting as last week. Came back with just two games and nothing else...
Castlevania - The Dracula X Chronicles (PSP) $6 - Picked this up if only because I know I'll want it some day. I don't current have a PSP. So it'll go up with my copy of Mega Man Powered Up which I've had for 2 years. Why are PSPs still 60+ bucks?!
Phantasy Star Universe (PS2) $5 - I've had Phantasy Star Online on the brain lately. Apparently this game isn't the best in the franchise.
And that's it. So ho-hum I didn't even take a photo. I passed on a copy of King of Fighters Collection The Orochi Saga (PS2) for $8 that I'm kicking myself over because complete copies go for $35 apparently. Balls.

ColecoVision Flashback $39.99 ToysrUs
Yes I got one over a month early, even beat the preorder customers! :)
Over at Atari Age is where I found out about these appearing early. A different ToysRUs had them on the shelf tagged at $39.99. I had tried to get a price match remembering seeing it some where for $29.99. The Sales Clerk could not find it at the ToysRUs website, nor show any of their authorized competitors. Then the cashier told me they could not ring it up due to not supposed to be out until October! My guess is for all the preorder customers to claim theirs? I stood my ground stating its on the shelf and I want to buy one now. I ended up paying $39.99 and with option of price adjustment later if competitor ad found. I was thrown off by the price at Atari Age which had a picture showing it at $29.99, Turns out at the other TRU, it was stocked above a CD Boombox price label!
Ah well still happy to get it early, ooooh I am loving discovering Jumpman Jr again; one of my favorite games on the Commodore 64.
Get yours while you can, ToyrUs is pulling these from the shelves until October 1st. That is if any left after the preorder customers gets theirs. Hope others get an early score, Good Luck!

Here are my purchases for August:
Final Fantasy VII OST (Used, Complete) - Trade
Pokemon SoulSilver (Used, Case and cart only) - $15.00
Both of these finds were from Craigslist. For the FFVII OST, I traded my copy of the FFX OST to the seller.

Rayman Legends (New) - $10.00
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria (Used, Complete) - $8.99
Rayman was from one of Target Canada's game sales. VP2 was found in my local Value Village.

Tales of Xillia 2 Collector's Edition (New) - $139.99
Tales of Xillia 2 Prima Guide (New) - $37.60
I pre-ordered the CE at EB Games the first day it was put up. And it a good thing I did too, because my local store only got one copy allocated to it. I saw the guide sitting at the cash when I picked up the CE, so I bought it as well. The employee was nice enough to give me the "Day One" 20% discount on it, even though that discount only applies when purchasing the regular edition of the game and guide together.

Donkey Kong Country Returns (Used, Complete) - $15.74
Puppeteer (Used) - $26.99
Kirby Mass Attack (Used) - 16.19
EB Games sent me a "20% off one used game" coupon as thanks for buying ToX2 from them. I also received a "buy one used game and get a second for 40% off" coupon for my birthday, so I used them to get a few gifts for myself.

What the deuce? I didn't receive any such coupon and I pre-ordered and picked up that same bundle along with the super fancy guide. :|
Was your copy really $139.99 or $129.99?
I've been slacking this month on posting in this thread but I haven't really found anything noteworthy IMO beyond some pre-order pick ups and the occasional cheap PS3 game. I did find The King of Fighters XII at Gamestop for $10 the same day I picked up my ToX2. Other than that I picked up Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright for 3DS, Akiba's Trip and Mugen Souls Z on PS3, and Ragnarok Odyssey Ace on Vita.

The answer to both your question is that I am Canadian. So thanks to the weak dollar, we got a $10 price hike on the ToX2 CE. As for your question about the coupon, it was exclusively for Platinum Edge card members.
I'm not sure of GameStop in the US was offering the same promo. But since the membership card programs are completely different from each other, I assume the answer is no.

If it's any help I found/bought a bunch of stuff in August I never bothered to post about.
Found a stack of nes games 2 each and it had final fantasy and gi Joe in it. White label gi Joe. Also traded a friend a nes toaster and 3 games (one a gray cart Zelda that was cracked) for a new copy of akiba's trip on ps3. I also bought a few random ass systems, cords, cables and bought a r9 270x on eBay used for 100 bucks.only 4 months old, some big gigabyte one with 3 fans on it. Gonna x fire it with my 7870
Now's a good time to pick up hardly used cards on eBay now that the rush for bit coin is over

Quite possibly the last post for this month, stuff I found @flea market on August 30th...
2x AsciiPad SNES controllers - $1 Each - both work perfectly
1x Ascii Fighter Pad SNES controller - $1 - Turbo settings on L don't work, besides that perfect
1x SEGA Genesis Power Cord - $1 - haven't tested yet, want to patch up a small bit with electrical tape
G-Loc (Game Gear) CiB! - $1 - Found in a pile of VHS tapes :P
These were all from the same guy who had a vat of various retro controllers and power stuff he sold me for $1 a pop. Looking back, I wish I grabbed more stuff, like a NES max and OEM Genesis 3 button I saw as well as some third party PS1+Saturn Lightguns but due to the only place I could get cashback for the flea at only had $20 left in the register I was low on funds. I wanted to pick up a Genny 6-button I saw there too but alas the cord was destroyed.
Little game corner I went to had a copy of Landstalker with the box for $5!...but some asshole stole the cartridges from all the good boxed games when the seller wasn't looking. Same with another vendor I visited. It seems to be quite a problem. Thankfully they didn't touch the loose drawer and I got...
Captain America and the Avengers (GEN) - $5
Thomas The Tank Engine (SNES) - $5 (part of a plan to torture a friend with Thomas the Tank Engine games for an LP, I already owned the genesis one but needed the SNES version)
UN Squadron (SNES) -$5 - Was $10, but awesome seller halved the price since I was buying Thomas and Cap America :D
Black Belt (SMS) - $1 - with sleeveless, manual-less case. I just put it with my loose games for now :P
same seller had a road rash 3 loose for $5, I would have gotten it but the UN Squadron/Thomas vendor told us there was another game seller at the flea and I wanted to save some money for them - when we got there turned out he was just reselling a mountain of SNES games at 2 to 3 times their actual value and I bought nothing - doh!
Later, went to a local gamesore that does a buy 2 get 1 free deal for all games under $8.
Spiderman and Venom Separation Anxiety - $4
OutRun (SMS) - $2
WWF wrestlemania the arcade game - $2
Batter Up (GameGear) - Free! (was $2)
Batter up is actually a pretty fun baseball game by NAMCO and it's pretty hard to find the US release - it goes for $6-10 on ebay normally which seems like a pittance, but keep in mind it's a sports game on the game gear, and those selling AT ALL is pretty damn remarkable, let alone for more than two bucks.
Finally, eBay stuff...
Lot of 9 SMS games including Zillion, Choplifer, Pro Wrestling, Enduro Racer, Space Harrier, After Burner and 3 great sports games - $18
SEGA 3D Glasses With Maze Hunter 3D, Zaxxon 3D and Missile Defense 3D - $40 (A bit pricey yes, but the 3D Glasses work fine, came with the adapter and all games came with manuals - when the glasses can sell for $50-60 on their own if they work.
Lot of 9 GBA games including Mega Man Battle Network 1 and Sonic Battle - $13
Lot of 10 GB/C games - $40 - including:
Metroid II
Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
Revelations: The Demon Slayer
Final Fantasy Adventure
Final Fantasy Legend
Game and Watch Gallery 3
Game and Watch Gallery
Wario Land
Tetris
Mortal Kombat
All games that can save, still do! Metroid II was the first video game I ever played, on a tiny little GB pocket, so it feels good to own a copy again. The first five games listed hit anywhere from $10-20 a pop and I needed G+W Gallery 3 so this was a great deal for me.
So yeah, pretty nice month for collecting here but it's left me with a lot of doubles. I'll perhaps remedy that with a sale thread soon :)

I'm just a bit lazy. I don't usually post finds anymore as I'm a bit lazy with taking pictures and by the time I would get around to it, it's days later. When I posted finds without pictures most people didn't take notice. I have been finding some stuff throughout the month though.

And, let's face it, now that retro gaming's reaching a larger audience than it used to, more people are scouring thrifts and flea markets for stuff to resell. Guys like us who genuinely want these things to collect can't catch much of a break anymore.
