I got this today in the mail an Atari 2600 in a promo box. with an Atari 2600A ( 4 switch wood grain ) system. Label on the bottom says :

MFG. By Atari Inc. , Sunny Vale Ca
Model No CX2600a
and the SN is 325711

It doesnt say Promotional use only Not for resale but the trim looks yellow more than orange but just wondering were the promotional systems are only stamped or did they have other ones out there without the stamp and sport a Sunnyvale label. Reading up online it sounds like they might have. I have no idea so I figure Id come to you all.

Does the system match the box? Is the console actually manufactured in Sunnyvale? I've only known of promotional systems being black instead of woodgrain, and they were all stamped as promotional on the bottom, but if yours was made in Sunnyvale instead of overseas then it could be a promo model too.

I had a promotional woodgrain system a few years ago that was stamped with the Promotional Use Only engravement. It had smooth rounded edged switches and yellow markings instead of orange. Someone on Atariage that lives in Hawaii asked to buy it from me for $200. I was pretty happy as I got on ebay for $10 when buying a stock photo listing with no cords, just a copy of Pac-Man with it.
