A few PS3 games were released with blue covers that were similar to PS4 games. However, now Sony switched the cases back to grey. Why? Did they think it was too confusing to tell them apart?

Watch Dogs, MLB 14 The Show, and Deception IV are some of the games that use the blue style cases.

I'm sure retailers complained. I've almost bought a PS3 copy of a multiplatform game when I wanted the PS4 version at least once through Best Buy.com and once in a Best Buy store when an employee brought out the wrong version from the back, so it is a little confusing.

Probably to avoid confusion. I never even knew about the blue PS3 covers.

It really didn't create much confusion for me. The PS4 clamshell is blue, while the PS3's clamshell is clear plastic.

or Maybe it was completly diff reason, maybe they decided making the PS3 games flashy and new looking took a bit away from the flashy new tech effect that PS4 would have, making a PS4 game less desireable, because PS3 games looked just as fresh, and new! I doubt it, but its just a theory!

That doesn't help if you're ordering on-line and all you see is the box art without the case or going to a Best Buy where all they use are those black and white photocopies of the game in a security case.

They changed the box art for 360 games, too, nothing significant, but if u look at the Xbox logo on the spine for GTA 5, its white, while the older ones are grey. Maybe its my imagination, tho, cuz Street Fighter X Tekken and Alice both have different logos too. I'm lookin at my 360 games here...

What side of town do you live in?

All of the Best Buy stores in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area use clear plastic security cases, with the real product inside.
