Yeah, and that's the whole damn point? That these sites work together to decide which things to give coverage and what not to? Yeah, and Mercedes, BMW, and many other companies getting to pull ads doesn't help either. They admitted that they've lost thousands and have the potential to lose millions. But pageclicks are apparently worth not even being able to have a basic relationship with your advertisers.

Again, no one to complain to when "art games" that are attempts to show SEE VIDEO GAMES ARE TOTALLY ART, GHOST OF ROGER EBERT and brown military shooters are the only basic options.

I've never paid money for a Call of Duty game in my life. I don't own any console newer than the Wii and my Dreamcast gets the bulk of my attention. But, I guess I need to "check my privilege" (whatever the fuck that means in this context) because I'm not up in arms about Zoe Quinn and don't own multiple pony plushies and have a waifu so I'm not a "real gamer".

Can you really blame people for making the connection? The loaded premise of this thread seems like some roundabout attempt to talk about half of one aspect of what Gamergate pretends to be about (war against biased gaming press and an indie dev culture which they appear to be in cahoots with) without having to mention Gamergate itself, and by proxy all of the uglier inconvenient aspects that go along with it - like harassment and death threats against women and anyone who defends them, which is what Gamergate is really about.

Berzerker well said there as that pretty much sums it up. It's not hard to draw a comparison and roll down that hall, but the thing is people pissing and moaning about the obviously jaded (at the least) and if not totally corrupt and in the bag (paid ads for games being reviewed) stuff in gaming media has been around a lot longer than a whiny indie dev who happened to have boobs or anyone else that got dragged into it that got horribly attacked as well. I find it interesting how many people went with the gamergate thing and conveniently went down the hole they did and where it spiraled into from it as it's pathetic.

I've jumped back to scanning headlines and checking out All Games Beta (http://www.allgamesbeta.com/), which just posts new media/releases for games (like Magicbox used to).

Also, Valkyria Chronicles is evidently coming to PC. At least "in Europe." Neat.

^That's great news, always wanted to play it. I haven't read/watched a youtube or non-youtube review that didn't involve retro/obscure stuff in years honestly. The great thing about games becoming such a mainstream pursuit is that I have friends into all the newer stuff who i trust and they can tell me whether or not stuff like Titanfall, the latest Assassin's Creed etc. is worth it
