I was following a CIB Sega Genesis Ebay auction, and they usually go for $20-30, but this one went for $102 after much bidding. The only distinguishing thing was it has its registration card. The seller must be really happy. Why can't my stuff sell for 3-4 x market value? I seem to attract strictly the value bidders (and I have 100% feedback, accept returns, etc.)

I am so confused by the "collector" market now. Where did all the money bags come from? Great for sellers though.

Frightening, and hopefully an anomaly. It would be scary if the big money Nintendo collectors are getting bored flush with cash having hit the gems they want and now are crapping in the Sega pool to get that out of the way before it's too late (by their own hand.) Lately since having that R5 come out in June I've been considering slowly snapping up maybe a half dozen or so Genesis gems I used to like. I hope this isn't a trend or I'll have to act fast.

a complete Ghouls 'n Ghosts went for about $90 recently, too, for no apparent reason.

So another random outlier? Is there no reasoning at all behind it? I find it suspect batman would go that much higher over a registration card, but I've seen loopier stuff in the past.

And neither that Batman nor the Ghouls were paid for I'll bet.

Ack, I hope it was a fluke...I am still looking for the manual to Batman...

Spine cards for Japanese CD-based games?

Touche, that madness has existed much longer than this recent fad of predatory pillage with primarily Nintendo stuff. But that's also Americans going nuts over a Japanese piece of paper many would throw out along with the celophane. Here we're just at the level of some Nintendo crackheads who want not only the CIB but all the other inserts too at whatever cost, if this was legit, and not another ebay no pay.

Because Ebay buyers are fickle or because they were shilled in hopes of catching a fish?
Actually, my conspiracy-theory side has wondered if Ebay participates in these mysteriously high closing price auctions, such as the curiously shaped frosted flakes that go for hundreds, to motivate more seller listings.
