I like the concept - I'm someone who uses USB adapters for my Ouya all the time.
But because of that, I am disqualified from needing this, and on top of that, the price is pretty hefty - you need to pledge at least $55 + shipping to get a basic unit and cable adapters.
Having an all-in-one USB adapter would be great, but the price, the fact that I already own adapters that accomplish what aims to do, and the fact that existing ___ to USB adapters are extremely affordable individually means I won't be supporting this kickstarter.
I wish it success, but the price would need to come to the $25ish range for me to consider buying one for the reasons mentioned.
I'd like to talk price with you. This is only for understanding, so please do comment back. I was advised to jack the price up a bit by a lot of people based on this.
First the average cost of an adapter is about $7. Some go as low as $2 some up in the $30. So to be fair lest go off of $7. And be honest some of the adapters you just don't need. so let say the popular ones:
nes
snes
atari like (db9)
n64
psx
dc
7 * 6 = 42
now multiple that by 4 ( 4 players ) you get 168. So that is just one example. now I know about may flash and some of the 3 in 1's out there but how in the world are you going to compete with my price? Mind you I have 17 types of controller interfaces. Even if you bought every adapter for 2 dollars that is 17*2*4=136. I'm still under that LOL.
Now I see from your point of view (having them already) and that makes perfect sense but help me see how someone that does not have a collection will not benefit from this?

Since you're seeking Kickstarter funding, you should be setting your price at just about what it costs you to make and deliver the adapters. What's it actually cost for materials and assembly to build these?

Posting on a open public gaming forum and asking people not to comment back, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. X_x

The thing is, this adapter assumes people need or even want such excessive compatibility. Compatibility for such things like Virtual Boy, Pippin, Jaguar, TG-16, Vectrex? I guess that's good to have in theory, but not when the cost of having those luxuries is carried along with the cost of the unit itself.
Four controller ports? I haven't had four people over who wanted to play a video game since I was a teenager. I wouldn't ever be using more than two controller ports at time.
And also how can you support 4 controller ports over a USB line? The draw would be too great. You'd need a wall wart, making it no better than any run of the mill USB hub. Most retro gamers want to reduce the number of wall warts they have to deal with so again four player support is something that sounds good in theory but is more cumbersome than it would be worth for most people.
$55 is a steep point of entry, even if it is cheaper and more convenient than buying several other adapters. I just think that most adult gamers have no use for four controller ports, or most or most of the controller adapter types you're offering. NES, SNES, MegaDrive, PSX...all the others are frivolous.
I'd consider buying one of these units if the price was lower, but I just can't justify spending $55 on a controller adapter of any sort.
Perhaps you could also offer a cheaper two controller port version? I just don't need four controller ports for anything as none of my adult friends are interested in playing old four player video games.
Again, I like the concept of an all-in-one adapter, but the price needs to be cut and a much cheaper two controller port version offered as well, with the option to buy the cables separately in singles, doubles or for those who are really hardcore, quad packs. But I think that most people would be fine with just single controller adapters that could be swapped out.
Multiplayer options are fine, but let's be real here - most retro games are single player only.

I think I know what you mean now and I tried to offer more sets with nes or sega setups only. Maybe I need more offers with less setups?
4-player mode is only an option but yes many people love 4 players. SMBS is a great example. The box itself has a usb hub internally like the xbox controller.

Ok, name the price and the cables ( plus quantities ) you would like to see.

I'm working with KS to allow multiple stuff. If they agree I could sell the boxes and cable sets separately.
Thx for commenting back! You may never know how helpful that was.

I think $25 for the device + four adapters is a fair price. $55 should be for a deluxe model, not the introductory model.

I meant more for something in addition with maybe more cables but not as many as the ones on there. Just for kicks I ran the numbers on the manufacture site for that suggest price. I'd have to set the goal to 250k to meet that. The main issue is the cable distribution. The device can easily hit that price range but these cable guys really like to hold up their end.
Still thx for the suggestion, your input has been taking in to consideration.

The auto-pause thing is cool but for around $40 or less you can get a 4 port usb hub and 4 adapters for most controllers
The $95+ bundles are a good deal if you wanna use original controllers on 17 different emulated consoles but in most cases people would spend a lot less buying the adapters they'd use and a hub if necessary

I've debated posting this suggestion for a few days now and have decided that it might be of some assistance to mention my impressions of what I've seen. So I'm hoping that you take this as constructive criticism.
I recommend putting a bit more thought into your grammar. It doesn't need to be perfect, but as is, it's very sloppy and doesn't inspire confidence in a project that's seeking $150,000 to fund it. Wording that appears to have a bit more care invested into it definitely isn't going to hurt your chances.
Heaven knows that my grammar is far from the best, but I'm also just posting casually at a message board. If I was attempting a project like this, I'd do whatever is necessary to present it as well as I'm able to. I can't imagine that your lofty Kickstarter goals will be achieved, but assuming that you're going to attempt to resurrect this on a smaller scale, how you present yourself is important if you want to succeed and there's definite room for improvement there.
I had it inspected and touched up by a pro. So yeah I wrote it but it had "professional" eyes on it. I can't see the mistakes but I know I'm not great at that sort of thing. Word can't find it but you're not the first to say that. I asked him to look it over again for me. Thx for the heads up.
