I hated kids who did that in the 90's! Oh how that irked me! Is anyone here guilty of doing that back in the day? :) Does anyone <gasp> still do it?

I never remove those, I also hate getting cases damaged like that. I prefer the hang tabs intact.

I'm probably in the minority here but I hate those hangtabs with a passion! I removed all of them from my Genesis and Master System boxes and they look so much nicer lined up on a shelf because of it. Anybody else here remove these things or do you consider it inappropriate/blasphemous? I never really thought about it until I saw this post.

The last go around I had with the SMS I bent them flat to the case and if they wouldn't I'd pop them off, just cleanly with a knife to not crack the shell for the half of them I had with tabs. They're just in the way and add no value to the package, and not to mention if you try and line a book case with them with enough shelf space to stack them lying flat or two rows high, the stupid ass tab just gets in the way and it won't work. Stuff ends up flopping all over the place or falling over.

Many collectors really want genesis games with hangtabs intact. I think removing the hangtabs is not a good idea because it does devalue the games (or the cases at least).

I do hate them, though. Mega Drive games dont have them at all which is nice.

When I had my Master System & Mega Drive I was so OCD I wouldn't even play the game before de-tabbing it, lol. Nowadays I'm slightly less anal and my collection has a mix of both tabbed and de-tabbed.

Hang Tabs! HANG TABS!! RAARRGGHH!

I once passed on 19 sealed copies of Splatterhouse 2 for $1 apiece because they still HAD their hang tabs on them. Whenever I buy a lot off ebay, every game that has a hang tag on it goes right in the trash, unopened. Also I cut the UPC's off of every game I buy with an exacto knife.

LOL! Happy first post of the new year!

I destroyed the hangtags. I now wish i hadn't but the damn things didnt fit on the shelf right and when i bent em, they just broke anyway.

I let a friend in my class borrow my copy of Mortal Kombat 2 for a week and it came back with the loop ripped off and the manual really beat up. I only let one of my friends borrow any of my games because he is like me and takes care of his stuff and especially other people's stuff. It still makes me mad thinking about that. I was obsessed with MK2 at the time and it killed me to see it like that. I saved up my own money to get that game too.

I am guilty as charged. I did not like the tabs either.

I remove all hang tabs. I don't know why Sega wasted plastic on them rather than make tabs part of the shrink wrap.

I had something similar happen to me and due to that the dildo of a then ex-friend jacked up what I had even worse. I loaned out Balloon Fight complete in the box supposedly for a night or two. I ended up not getting it back for weeks. He supposedly kept losing it, forgetting to bring it, or loaned it to other friends(really?!) Eventually my mom got all pissed off and threatened the parents (small claims court and all that.) I got it after that, the box was gone, the manual was gone too, sleeve was there, and the game had somehow been damaged so it would make this buzz sound toward the end of the title tune on the game. Ever since that stunt there has only been one person I ever willingly loaned a game to again who was my best friend who came from a military family and treated everything with honor, once forced by my mom to my brothers douche friend, but at least he returned it in the same condition.

I lent out Zelda's collectors edition for Gamecube to a friend; he lost it. As compensation I took his copy of Secret of Mana hostage. Eventually Zelda was returned, I think he lent it to a third party without asking. I still have that Secret of Mana.

I am neither here nor there when it comes to hang tabs. If it has one cool, if not oh well. they have to bend to fit on my slim shelf. I don't go out of my way to remove or replace the case. I am more of a player than a collector even though i have a bigger than average collection. And with sega even more so. About 40% of my sega games are cart only and a decent percentage of that has torn and destroyed labels. I'm not really pressed about condition, although I do get a warm fuzzy feeling when i have a complete copy. I always love going through the old manuals.

I keep the if they come with them and clean them up if all that's left is a mangled mess. They're nice but I'm not gonna cry in my cheerios if a copy is missing it if everything else looks good.

I would never remove the hang tabs but they don't bother me ether way. I have a stack of EA games I keep on top of my genesis boxes because they don't fit in the cassette drawers I have for my loose genesis and master system games. For that I slightly thank who ever removed the tabs but I would rather have all the tabs on my boxes.

One of the local stores shrink wraps all of there boxed games and they just bend the hell out of the hang tab

I prefer having the hang tabs intact, but when they're missing or damaged I don't get all bent out of shape over it.

You see what I did there?
