Hit the thrifts today. Been pretty dry around here lately so I didn't expect to find much. My last stop was a thrift that usually has some decent games in whenever I go in. Today they had about 15 complete NES games, all in very nice shape. I already owned all of them, but I picked them up at $3 each since I wanted the boxes, instructions, and inserts (and even separate plastic NES storage boxes for all the carts). Anyhoo, I get home and start going thru everything and notice that there is an official Hint Book (priced at $5.95) that came with Uninvited. I thought that this might have been originally packaged with the game (like the one for SNES Zelda), but I open the manual and see that an order form for the book was clipped out. Obviously the owner sent away for it and kept it with the game.

Not a "find of the year" I know, but I though it was pretty cool since I've never heard of official hint books being sold for NES games (well, besides the Ultima one). Anyone know of any other mail-away mini books like this for NES titles?

Shit. Shadowgate was one of three games I passed up there because I already had owned complete copies. Gonna go back tonight and see if it has the hint book with it....

Dragon Warrior 2 had a mailaway map and hintbook (Im pretty sure this was mailaway and not store bought, but no promises). Also, the Tokuma Dragon Warrior 4 guide, but I think this one may be store bought.

Score! I went back to the store to get Shadowgate, and just as I hoped, the hint book was with it. Now I only need the Deja Vu book to complete the Kemco trifecta!

I did some searching on google, and it looks like allot of NES games had hint books (I could really use that Lolo book). Here's a link for anyone that cares:

I've got the Lolo 1 and 3 hint books from HAL laboratories. They are way handy.

As a matter of fact, I also have the Kemco hint books for those three NES games (Shadowgate, Deja Vu, Uninivited). They are at the house, but I know I still have them.

I sold my book for Dragon Warrior 4 on Amazon last year for $50. :D

I still have the hint book for another Kemo game, Lagoon, for the SNES. And the free one you could send away for Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. I doubt either of those are worth anything today, though. :-D

I have the Dragon Warrior 2 mail away map. DW3 has one but I have never seen it. I picked up a spare Wizardry guide yesterday.
