Many years ago, a local video rental store was going out of bussiness and I was able to score some free "dead" Genesis carts. One of them was a bootleg/pirated version of Double Dragon.

Whenever I tried to play the game on the Genesis, it would hang at the title screen, or just freeze at the intro of stage 1.

I always wanted to find a way to repair this game, or at least try to find a replacement copy...hell, or even play the ROM, as from what I can remember, it was different than the Accolade version.

Here are some screenshots of the PCB. Sorry for the dust...it's been stored for over a decade in a box.

Any ideas?

Check for broken traces first. Clean around the chip pinouts and maybe trying retinning some of the solder pads on the chips. Anywhere the solder looks dull. That is what I would try.

Was Double-Dragon one of those unlicensed Genny titles that Accolade made early one before the TMSS? Have you tried it through a GameGenie before?

This is a unlisenced Master System game on a Genesis pcb. By the looks of all the Goldstar logic I would guess Korean.
