ok I finally opened a SNES I had for years that I got from a good will for pretty cheap. I think was $15 but it came bagged with a bunch of accessories that in them selves made it worth it.
any way its pretty yellowed, the bottom more so than the top or controller port and the I/o on the back looks great except that center plastic pin broke out before I got it.

the bottom half is yellowed inside and out while the top is just on the outside, it was a smokers but no strong smoke smell or tar bulid up.
the tops savable with a retrobright bath, the bottom is not. its yellowed so completely through and is crumbling away. the eject lever spring broke the mount so it wont work any more.

I was thinking of doing something creative with it but I was looking for some ideas, the system it self works. I don't have any good bottoms but I have about 2 other spare good tops, this would make a 3rd after I clean it up a bit.
the board doesent look that great, theres some corrosion, its a board with the s-enc chip on it so I could do the component mod on it but I wanted to do that to one with a good shell.

so basicly any cool case ideas?

I dunno, maybe paint the top pink and the bottom baby blue and then slap a Pony sticker on it? You could then hold the 1st annual " DP Brony Console Raffle™ "

heh I like the trade mark on that.

but yea theres no good mount points in the bottom half so the PCB is kinda just flopping around in there, its just crumbling, would need some reconstructive surgery for sure.

I wonder if I could make a mold out of it before it got too bad to recast other bottom halves....hmm I already have too many projects but that's a thought for the future

If you need new posts you could use like bondo or something to make new post maybe and then drill out holes for the screws.

even if I did that the underlying plastic would just crumble out from under the filler.
its bad, not the worst ive seen but still pretty bad. its even started to "infect" the top shell upon closer inspection. the top is still saveable though

I have an idea, it involves American cherry wood, lexan, and nudity

I would just find a broken SNES with a good case and swap the guts. I swapped a top once when a working console had a caved in top.

There's a severe game drought here where i am at and it seems it's not going to get any better.

Lately I've been on the eBay s but haven't found a decent job lot of broken systems for parts that didn't cost more than a similar listing with good consoles.

I did how ever get a super famicom for a penny recently though...... Doesn't help me though
