While they're basically dead, they had a very long history just like Nintendo so I felt a companion thread was needed, Sony probably could use one too at this rate.
Sega lasted a long time as Service Games and eventually went from video games into home systems. You've got your SMS, Genesis (32X and Sega CD addons), Saturn, Dreamcast, Gamegear, Pico and more, so what's your favorite game on the systems you've owned or used?
There were a few systems that only hit Japan or down in South America if you've used or own them have at it. :)

Game Gear - Columns...? (I haven't played many Game Gear games)
Never liked Columns, just was never as engaging as say Tetris. I thought Stargate was a fun puzzle title for the GameGear though.

Two things I liked about Columns were the music, and 'Flash Columns' mode. It was the only falling tile puzzler I played back in the day which had a goal to shoot for (removing the flashing gem), rather than just surviving as long as possible and scoring more points. I've never heard of Stargate (well, besides the Defender sequel).
On a side note, I'm the only person I know who likes KLAX. :p

I've never heard of Stargate.
It's a movie tie-in that's universally panned for being nothing like the movie, and not a platformer like the console releases.
You collect falling hieroglyphs in a stacking ring. You're given a pattern to match: from which you can either collect three of kind of each individual symbol or match the pattern. There's a vs mode against the computer AI that's pretty much one big game of SOS, you play puzzle bouts to claim sections of the board and if you gain the majority control you win.

Ohhh! Stargate, as in the movie Stargate. Yeah, I never knew that there was a puzzler game released. Now I'm curious.

I actually kind of like that version of Stargate. My mom is a big puzzle game enthusiast, especially on Game Gear. Stargate, Tesserae, Bust a Move, Mean Bean Machine, Woody Pop, Columns, Klax... she actually turned me on to that one.

I love Klax! It's hard as hell but it's one of the best classic puzzle game. More amusing then Tetris, too. I've only played the NES version though

Klax is fun, but it gets nasty fairly quick. My first experience was a cabaret? (mini) arcade cab on a trip. It was one of a few games in a room I'd hit up when I could, and then later on I found a used copy for the NES and had that around for years.
I wouldn't say Columns is my favorite game on a Sega system, but favorite puzzle stuck on there yes with Chu Chu Rocket being in second.

Master System: R-Type. Still amazed at what a good port it is.
Genesis: Castlevania Bloodlines. Can never get enough classic Castlevania.
Saturn: Galactic Attack. I really enjoy this one, but admittedly haven't played a ton of Saturn games.
Dreamcast: Shenmue. One of my all-time faves.
GameGear: Streets of Rage 2. Fun little beat-em-up, which I have a big soft spot for. Like the Saturn, I haven't exactly played lots of GG games.

I think that even if you had played a ton of Saturn games, Galactic Attack would still be an outstanding choice. I think it's still my favorite shooter for the system, even after playing the Radiant Silverguns and Battle Gareggas out there... awesome game!

Still one of my favorite traditional castelvania games.Beside it having a really good sound track, thanks in part to michiru yamane :D When i bought a genesis again a few years ago that was the first game i bought.
Genesis = Gaiares (my first party pick would be Sonic 2)
Sega CD = Ground Zero Texas
Sega 32X = Virtua Racing Deluxe (possibly the only redeeming piece of software on the system)
Saturn = Sega Rally
Dreamcast = Shenmue (probably doesn't hold up, but it was amazing when I first experienced it)
If I picked Sonic 2 over Gaiares, it would have been all games published by Sega, and mostly developed by Sega. But I have to go with Gaiares.

Absolutely! Rondo, Castlevania IV, and Bloodlines are all killer games. It's kind of sad how Konami made 3 unique and awesome Castlevania games for the 3 big hardware manufacturers back then, and now Konami is all but irrelevant.

Master System-Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap
This! All of the this. How was Wonder boy not the mascot of Sega? Imagine how much better the character would have translated to 3D than Sonic the hedgehog.
There's a good write up of why wonder boy was so good here (https://amongstgeeks.com/isnt-wonder-boy-thing-anymore/).
On a lesser note, I feel like Bonanza bros didn't get anywhere near as much love as it should have.

Favorite Sega game of all time? The arcade port of Virtual On for the Saturn.
Even though I eventually bought a full size cabinet a few years ago, I still think the Saturn version holds up in its own way, and plays just as well when you're using the twin sticks. It's just a little faster is all (and it had load times). Anyway, yeah, great port! Even let you record your matches and play 'em back with unique camera angles.

Wonderboy was a mascot of NEC too, much like Bonk was as he ended up no their hardware too with yet another name variant. There is a PC conversion of Dragon's Trap (WB3) for Windows around I think would be highly respected by some in here.

The Adventure Island/Wonder Boy heritage is messy, but the Wonder Boy name is/was owned by Sega, though Westone also sold publishing rights to the games to Hudson, who rebranded many of them as either Adventure Island or sprite-altered renames like Dragon's Curse or Dynastic Hero. So, while they're sort of multi-platform, Wonder Boy is a Sega franchise. It's weird, but Wonder Boy kicks Alex Kidd and Sonic in the face.

Dragon's Curse and Monster Lair for the win! Both great on the TG-16. Never played Dynastic hero.

Sadly really Konami hasn't over all been themselves since 3D kicked 2D's ass out of the console market. They never seemed to properly learn to adapt never every single one of their 8/16bit franchises and as a result the game have mostly beem mediocre to downright rotten. You do have some shining examples of it not, like the MGS series, but on the whole damn do they suck unless they make gameboy/ds, or tablet 2D games. Capcom, same thing.

Much as they try to keep castlevania going in 3D it's just didn't work out at all.Much as i like the MGS series,it has gotten to the point of being milked to death.Even when hideo leaves after MGSV is completed i suspect konami will continue on with mgs without him. They becoming more like snkplaymore and putting more into smart phones etc.
