Is there anyone here who actually played this back when it was still current?

I'm just curious, from what I understand it played just like the Gold Box games (in fact it was a gold box game itself), except it was multiplayer somehow? I'm not even sure how that would work.

As this was in the dial-up days and really before MMOs were a thing (Ultima Online was still a long ways away) I was wondering also how it handled storylines and quests. Like if one player solved a quest, is it permanently solved for all players or does each player have to solve it for themselves?

Just wondering. Also if anyone wants to gush nostalgically, I'd like that too.

Never, I just remember all the IRC-based "MUD" games.

I never played this, but I did log in to Sierra On-Line's multiplayer dungeon thing. "The Realm", I think it was called? Somewhere around here I thought I had the old ad / brochure that came with it, and scanned it in, but I can't seem to find it.

I don't remember much about it - it was largely a MUD with a few primitive graphics. There weren't many other people online, and the system wasn't terribly responsive. It was ahead of its time, to be sure...too far ahead.
