I had some incredible luck most the morning, for the kid at least. At the last place I found this kid and after I saw his dart board was broken asked me if I'd like a Gameboy. I was thinking original thinking great, ende dup being a GBC/GB black zipper case and inside there was like 10 or so games, more than half just kid fluff/potter/sports. Anyway what I was surprised to see was a white original GBA, and better yet, immaculate other than the scuffed up and easily replaced screen cover.

Question is though, I'm years behind the wave on this one. What do I do?
- Sell it as is, make like $15.
- Keep it

If I keep it, do I order an OEM Nintendo screen cover replacement kit for around $5? OR, does someone here know where to find an Afterburner (front light) kit I can apply to this thing? I've been mulling the last couple of years buying a GBA but never found one in such beautiful shape so the temptation is more than there to keep the thing, problem is the original screen without lighting is more crap than the GBC one.

If any of you know where to find a screen or an alternative for the same effect please clue me in, thanks. (Going to cross post this at another board.)

If you will play it couple of hours per month, during commutes, on the road etc I don't know your situation, then keep it.

If you are a collector and you don't have original GB in your collection then you should at least have one.

If you will probably turn it on once a year then sell it.

Sell the unit and all the games as a LOT. I don't know what games you got there, but there are some expensive GB games out there.
If you get like $40-$50 for the lot, take that money and put it into something for your favorite system, that way you will feel like you got it for nothing because the money came from GB.

Good Luck.

Do they still make those backlight screen mods? I forget where, but there was a website selling kits for around 50 bucks. The original GBA was way more comfortable to hold than the SPs.

turbo: If I keep it. I'd use it whenever I wanted to play a GBA game because the micro while bright and pretty is fairly small and won't run GB/GBC stuff. I gave up on collecting due to the whole annoyance value of the scalping, so no I have no need to own an original gameboy, but if I found one this year like the GBC and GBA I wouldn't turn away from it (GB or GBP.) I like to mess with GBA stuff here and there just like the GB/GBC stuff so I keep a couple trays in or near my desk with the games in them.

The games I kept is a naked(no label) Kirby NIghtmare in Dreamland, Super Mario Advance, Mario Golf Advance Tour, Pokemon LeafGreen, GBC Lego Alpha Team, and GBC Zelda Oracle of Ages. And there was this 1st party Gameboy case that'll hold 10 games like I said.

I'm not going to keep all of it, can't stand that Zelda game though at the same time I wonder if I should give it another try after 15 years. LeafGreen I don't need (have FireRed), Lego isn't my type of game. The Mario games I'd keep. Kirby I wouldn't just because it's naked and I already own a copy anyway.

Also Turbo, I already feel like I got it for nearly nothing. I paid $10, sold off 2 EA sports games, and 3 kids games for $7 making the entire package $3.

Fiery--No. There are options but the prices are stank at least as a package deal online. You can transplant the 101 screen into the old GBA, but it requires a couple inch ribbon cable adapter you can get for cheap anywhere online (like $10~.) If you try and get a package deal with the ribbon, a lifted 101 screen, a new face plate(need that) and the other little bits people ask $95-100 shipped which sucks. You can buy them pre-made for like $150 maybe a bit less, usually those people trash the old shell too and use a new cheapo chinese knockoff.

Keep it and play GBC and GBA games in the sun. The screen looks great in sunlight.

Keep it as a GameCube Game Boy Player controller. It's the best way to play GB Player (besides the extremely valuable Hori controller).

Well all things considered the GBA I was leaning towards keeping, just not sure if I want to replace the OEM front for another and keep it stock or add the lighting. It would be perfect with the lighting, just not seemingly able to find a kit is the problem.

I've been considering the same with the GBC I have too, it's an easy fix if you have an original SP front lit screen to do the work, takes maybe 20min or so and just soldering 2 wires into place.

I really should though look more at the games. Not sure I could get beyond my dislike of the Zelda title, but I'm tempted to give it another look. Mario Advance is a must, but I prefer Mario Golf GBC over the GBA one, so that probably would be which one I'd keep of the two as both would be pointless together unfinished. I don't think I'd ever dig up a GB Player cord though that is a good point using it as an accurate controller, but I just don't use my GC much in nearly a year now. I mean it's plugged in, but when I want to do GB stuff I use the Retron 5 since last June.
