The guy who gave me all the complete genesis games in the video is purposing a third trade to me later today where I think he's offering his entire sega saturn collection for trade of my walking dead comic books.
If he has games anything like his sega genesis collection was then I'm sure we will trade. He told me he was a X sega fanboy not sure if he knew the current value of his games or not. So not sure if he was hooking me up with a deal being nice or if he didn't know what he had.
Either way I AM HAPPY.

Goddamn dude, definitely. Walking Dead is a flash in the pan, it'll dry up in interest and fall into the cult level of more who don't care than do. Due to how overprinted it is now due to all the zombie buzz I don't see them retaining a lot of value while the Saturn stuff due to all the video game scalping will probably hold up better.
A banned account is a banned user. No alt. accounts are allowed. Now the "needler" account is joining the "needler420" account in being banned. If you had wanted back onto the message board, you should have PM'd a mod/admin and made your case for reversing the ban. Then it would be up to the mods on whether to allow you back into the fold or not.

Take FieryReigns attitude that pisses some people off, magnify it quite a bit, add some legitimate trolling (not just raging on Nintendo) and you'll start to get close to why he was shown the door. That or just try and use a site search on his original user name. If the search on here doesn't want to cooperate, google using the site:forum.digitpress.com tag and his name to get more as I think that would work.

You're hilarious. Unless you work for Nintendo I don't post offensive things. I post what's on my mind, don't sugarcoat shit, and I post as if you were standing directly in front of my face. Grab a pair of reading glasses while you're at it. I don't defend people, they can defend themselves.
Step down from your high horse. And don't put words in my mouth either. You're the only one posting offensively by calling me names. Go back to lurking, at least I tried starting discussions. Randomly banning me for finding a comment funny isn't going to do anything but make you feel like you accomplished something, your life must be more pathetic than my own. Someone else laughed at it in that thread too, did you ban him? No back-peddling from me neither.

So it would be bad if it was "teaching a Jew to drive" but sexism is just playful "ribbing". Gotcha. No, that would be kosher as well (no pun intended), but it would be far less funny since there's no stereotype about Jews being bad drivers (that I'm aware of). Now if he said something like "trying to use the N64 controller for the first time is like trying to wrestle a nickle from a k*ke" or something ugly like that, that's crossing the line IMO and is borderline hate speech. Gender jokes like 'women being bad drivers' and 'men being pigs' is lighthearted water cooler smack talk though.
...or maybe I'm just a 40 year old trog and completely out of touch.

Bigoted speech is bigoted speech. Just because the tone is softer than it could be doesn't mean it ceases to be bigoted. What if it was "teaching an Asian to drive"? In that case, there are racist stereotypes about Asian drivers. Would you say that is okay? Because I sure as hell bet there are Asian members on this board who wouldn't appreciate reading that.
Water cooler bigotry is a relic of the past (that sadly still happens, though), and the only people who find it "lighthearted" and funny are typically the ones who aren't the butts of the jokes. But those in minority positions in the workplace are generally taught to play it off, to act like they're enjoying it, to put on a fake smile or force out a fake laugh, because if you don't, if you complain, then you're "difficult" and "not a team player".

"Water cooler bigotry"? I didn't say anything about that. I said water cooler smack talk. I don't get the over-the-top reactions to the mildest jab these days. There are so many social justice warriors now who take extreme offense at the slightest mention of any barb targeted at anyone besides cisgender white males, no matter how lighthearted. As for equating Asians with women in the driving joke, you can do that is you want I suppose, but the reality is gender jabs don't carry the same weight and controversy as racial ones. I certainly didn't make it that way, it's just the way it is. Perhaps it's changing though, I don't know. Regardless it's extreme to accuse someone of being a bigot based on a humorous stab that was meant in jest.
If simply making a joke about women drivers makes someone a bigot, every sitcom ever made in the history of life is a vile, hate spewing piece of propaganda. But people don't REALLY think that, do that?
But those in minority positions in the workplace are generally taught to play it off, to act like they're enjoying it, to put on a fake smile or force out a fake laugh, because if you don't, if you complain, then you're "difficult" and "not a team player".I'm a black man from the American South and most of my peers from back home are the same, and among them I don't know any who don't or wouldn't speak up if and when someone says something offensive and inappropriate in the workplace. Likewise, I don't think I know any minorities personally who don't know the difference between light-heated humor and actual bigotry, but that's just my circle.
I'm not going to crusade against political correctness since I really only like to talk about video games here, but I hope you can appreciate that not every joke about gender (or race, or age, or nationality) is bigotry, and not everyone who makes cracks about gender or race are bigots.

Simply put, I don't believe you. The crack about "social justice warriors" puts you firmly in the camp of people who think casual bigotry ought to be acceptable and are whining that it no longer is. No self respecting black person I've ever met would be in that group. That leads me to believe you are either trying to deflect criticism by claiming to be part of an oppressed minority knowing that no one here can disprove such, or else you actually are and after years of living in a place where bigotry is a part of everyday life, you have managed to somehow convince yourself that bigotry is okay, even going so far as to defend those who would just as casually make cracks about you behind your back. So which is it?

So which is it?It's troubling that we're to a point where someone is accused of being something they're not because they don't fit someone esle's idea what and how they 'should' think, act, and feel based on their colour, and it's also ironic that a challenge to stereotyping in jest is met with ACTUAL stereotyping. What you're saying isn't far off from 'I'm not a black man because I don't eat fried chicken and watermelon' (which I don't, since I'm a vegetarian and hate fruit...but that's neither here nor there).
I'll grant you that you're genuine in your impassioned reply and not just trolling, respectfully, but I assure that I'm not in any camp that thinks casual bigotry ought to be tolerated. I'm in the camp who knows that someone making a silly, vanilla joke like "men are pigs", or "women can't drive as well as men" doesn't in itself qualify as bigotry. If you want to talk about bigotry, REAL bigotry, we can talk about blacks getting executed by cops on the news every week like it's open reason, or Islamophobia still running rampant from people who turn a blind eye to Christian extremists, or gay Americans being denied the same rights as straight Americans and the people who give that stuff a pass (which I don't as I'm actually an uber-liberal).
This foolishness of equating a vanilla joke ripped from virtually ANY WHOLESOME FAMILY SITCOM that's ever aired o American television, to the acts and thoughts of someone who genuinely spews REAL hatred is just silly to me.
Look, say what you will, but the bottom line here is that some of you are making a mountain out of an anthill. Some of you didn't like the guy's joke, fine. I can appreciate that, truly. But to say that it makes someone a "bigot" to make such a joke, or simply to find it funny, is just plain extreme and is political correctness run amuck, and you don't have to be a white, Western, cisgendered Christian male to realize it. You can be as black as (you don't believe) I am, as female as my mother, or as gay as a Log Cabin Republican and STILL feel that way.
I've never been involved in any sort of discussion like this at Digital Press, and honestly, it's really not something I enjoy (here). I just like to talk about video games. I respect your thoughts and the thoughts of others who have chimed in as well, and would appreciate if you could respect mine, too, and give me the benefit of the doubt when I say that I'm genuine. I'm not trolling, and I'm not a trog (I don't think I am, anyway). I don't want to 'win' an argument, or to bash women, or spout misogynistic rhetoric -- I just want to express my thoughts and to understand where others are coming from, that's it.
I apologize for any feathers getting ruffled. I don't claim to be the most articulate but I try to be fair and respectful.

Complaining about "Political Correctness" is the boogie man for people who see treating others with the respect and dignity that they'd want to be a great inconvenience.
Also, just because a form of bigotry (in this case, bigotry towards those that identify as women) is more socially acceptable than another form of bigotry doesn't make it not bigotry. If you're dissing the sisters you ain't fighting the power.

To be clear, I don't care if someone partakes in drugs recreationally; it is none of my concern as long as they don't cause harm to others. I don't think you understand what I was saying. I will attempt to clarify:
Needler is a stoner.
Being stoned impairs one's judgment.
Despite being told it was really bad idea, needler remained insistent on soldering batteries.
This leads to three possibilities:
Needler was stoned, and thus mentally impaired, during the course of the battery soldering thread.
Needler is just plain stupid.
Needler was not actually serious.
For his sake, I hope it is not the second possibility and choose to rule it out for now. This leaves use with possibilities one and three, and since we know him to be a stoner; I consider the first possibility to be the most likely.
Additionally, I never said that those who toke are addicts, can't function; or will harm, maim, or kill themselves.
What does all of this have to do with video games, exactly? Shouldn't OP be banned and the thread closed, end of story?
Or moved to Off Topic. This is the liveliest thread we've had in a long time!

*facepalm* One offensive comment after the other, so people who use marijuana are mentally impaired? Listen I can agree with you on the stupidity, but to say the stupidity came from marijuana is just plain ignorant, I have been on medical marijuana since 2007, I work and think and function just fine everyday of my life, in fact most of my job requires the use of power saws and other power tools, you know how many accidents I've had? Not one!
Meh, it's been a slow year for posting. At least we're talking about something here.
And it's civil.
It's locking time. This thread should have been closed hours ago or more, but the few other mods and I were busy with our lives outside of the forum.
Needler420 wasn't banned due to one comment. He was banned due to his many irrelevant/irreverent posts. His final post was just "the straw that broke the camel's back." And his newest account was banned for breaking the rule about alternative accounts and because he had already been banned.
As to the rest of the thread, we all have our own preferences, biases, and prejudices, but that doesn't mean we have to share them. And should we share them, that doesn't mean other people have to agree with them nor even listen to them. So sometimes, it is better to keep them to ourselves rather than say them or write them. After all, discretion is the better part of valor.
If we are to have a productive, active forum with lots of posts about this place's chosen topic (collecting and playing classic games), then we need this forum to be a place where everyone feels comfortable sharing their relevant thoughts on the topic. So play nice and play on.
