I've gotta say, this is epic. This guy went through so much, both in terms of work and forum trolls giving him hell, that it is amazing that he completed this five year project. This is an article well worth reading for anyone who ever played Final Fantasy VII.

Great, now I want to play FF7 again despite being one of its original naysayers.

How, exactly, does one apply this mod? Can it be played on an actual playstation (via a burned disc or such)?

No PSX support, sadly. In order to most easily reverse engineer the game, hack its code, extract its text and images, and replant the altered text & images back into the code, the Windows version of Final Fantasy VII was used as the base for this mod. Thankfully, both the original 1998 Windows version and the 2013 "HD" Windows version will work with this mod. If you have a "foreign language" (A.K.A. non-English version of PC FFVII), there is a mod you can use to make it compatible with this mod.
