First on PS4, probably also on Xbox One or PC.

Between this, Shenmue 3, and The Last Guardian not being cancelled, I feel like I woke up in Bizarro World today.

Well, you should stay in Bizzarro World, it's awesome!

The Last Guardian looked so boring granted its just a demo, demonstration etc....I'm excited for FF7, I love that game, althought I liked 9 and 6 more.

I think this is great news as someone who found FFVII fairly underwhelming when it followed up FFVI. I thought the jump to 3D was too soon, as the in-game graphics left a lot to be desired. Your first exposure to Cloud outside of a cinematic was this.

Yuck.

It made me wish they'd stuck with sprites for another game. FFVIII is fucking gorgeous in comparison.

Quite simply, FFVII Remake is one of the reasons that this E3 is the best E3 in a very long time. Sure, the game will probably take 2 - 5 more years before we can play it, but I'm already excited for it anyway.

Too bad Nomura has so much clout at Enix these days - I would have much preferred the original character design concepts and aesthetic than his weird art style where he has everyone wearing doll faces, being super slim, and wearing nearly all-black clothes. For God's sake, Nomura, real blonde hair is not just Japanese hair colored yellow!

I never finished the original game. I got as far as when you get on the boat to go to the other continent and it took me so long to get to that point that when I realized I was only about halfway through disc one, the sheer length of the game intimidated me and I stopped. I guess it's time to dust off my PS1 and try again.

It holds up pretty well. The 3D isn't what you play it for, so it's still quite enjoyable.

It looks like they're trying to make this one more realistic, so they're probably going to alter the music. I hope they don't overdo that because the soundtrack is one of the best things about the orginal game.

That said, I love the remiganing of Midgar. Looks really good. I hope they don't dumb down the gameplay so it's all a straight line with overdramatic voice acting...

The great thing about RPGs on the PSX is they had enough dialogue to tell a great story, but not too much dialogue to where the storyline tended to drag. I hope the localization of Final Fantasy is better, but other than that I hope they stay true to the storyline. Even the cross dressing scene. As uncomfortable as some people would get over the scene in the Honeybee Inn, it can be done in good taste even with better graphics.

What I really can't wait to see is what they do with Gold Saucer. Gold Saucer is one of those places I get excited every time I go whether it was my first time playing through Final Fantasy 7 or my fifth. Same mini games included, but maybe they can put more effort in their design. G Bike, submarine, snowboarding, and rollercoaster rides were the best mini games in the game, and maybe they can flesh these out even more than they already. Who wouldn't want a more in depth snowboarding mini game with tricks giving you points in addition to the balloons and online leaderboards? Online leaderboards for the roller coaster, submarine game, or G Bike?

One thing I do hope is the graphics they showed off in the unveiling. Hopefully these graphics make up all the cutscene animations throughout the game. Or atleast all the main scenes. Not my favorite in the series, but ever since the Final Fantasy 7 tech demo and Crisis Core's representation of what the characters and world can look like, it's my most anticipated remake of the series.

I didn't even think about Golden Saucer. A real opportunity to knock us dead. Then again, this is modern day Square... Who knows what we'll get.

@kupmogli: the cross-dressing scene is the best part of the game lol. That and the obvious homosexuals in the gym...that's where the game first got its hooks on me. Stuff like that is reason that game is fondly remembered.

Not going to lie, but I'd probably be stupid enough to eat the hype and buy this one. Despite it being a mediocre RPG in the 90s, 00s and the 10s, I have this feeling the amount of time, money, upgrades and spit n' polish on it could shake out some of the junk that sucked about the original and make it a better experience. This clearly isn't a janky cheap and easy port like FFX+X2 was since the PS2 visuals were already nice and the PS3 to PS4 upgrade was a cinch.

If it helps, Disc 2 is much shorter than Disc 1, and Disc 3 is only the final dungeon and a few optional sidequests.

The meat of the game is on Disc 1 really.

Though he didn't give any specific details, Tetsuya Nomura stated that it "will not be a simple remake" and that people who don't like it can just play the updated version of the original. While I don't mind some changes, I'm concerned that they might turn it into another JRPG with an action-oriented battle system. That would pretty much kill it for me.
