What game would you say is the game of the year for 2003 if the year were to end today?
Kinda a slow year so far. I think my vote would go to Wario Ware Inc. Insanely addictive game that is simplistic, portable, and very rewarding to play. I can't think of a game that has come close.
Worst game of the year... oh god, Aquaman for the Gamecube easiily.
Most disappoint game... Zelda: Wind Waker. Great game, perfect engine, the best graphics ever... TOO. FUCKING. SHORT.

Futurama for PS2!!!! :D
Ok, seriously. I'm a big fan, and I love the game, but it's got problems that non-fans will never be able to overlook.
I agree that Wario Ware is a great game - the kind of innovation that is seriously seldom seen nowadays. Most everything else is either a sequal to an earlier game or a Tv/Movie franchised POS. (Expect Futurama which rOxXorZ!)

I agree with you about this one, except on the 'best graphics ever'. I dunno, but that cell shading rubs me the wrong way. If I wanted to see comic book likeness, I'd go read a comic book.
As for it being too short, I couldn't agree more. WW is the only game I have for the Gamecube right now (it was the Pack-in. Thank god I didn't waste $70 on it), And even I see where it could have been lengthened. If they had of stuck a dungeon to go through for each of the triforce shards, instead of sending you on a hunting trip in the ocean, then the game might have been a decent length. I mean for crying out loud, even Zelda DX for the GBC was longer!

I'm waiting for somebody to chime in and defend Aquaman. :D
Somebody always likes the game somebody thinks is trash. Some lifelong Aquaman fan (or one of the programmers) no doubt is playing the game with relish as I type this.
Best game of the year so far ... well I think my opinion of this will change every week starting next week. As of now I'd say "VF4:Evo". Or Wind Waker.
Worst game so far ... haven't played Aquaman, but it looks like a contender along with Batman: Dark Tomorrow.

Thus far it's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. People had reservations going into this game due to the hype (and that most Star Wars games over the years have not been overly good) but it just blew the doors off.
Now, this COULD change as there is a pretty solid lineup throughout fall.

Honestly, I have not bought a game yet that was made in 2003!!!!
Oops, except Wario Ware. I love that game, so I guess that's my pick :)
Other games I want:
Burnout 2 DIrector's Cut - XBox
Viewtiful Joe - GC
NBA Street Vol. 2 - PS2
F-Zero GX - GC
I think that rounds out everything that has been / or will be released this year that really interests me.

ANother vote for Knights of the Republic, I'm loving this thing (with the exception of the hour I wasted on the Carath Bug).
Runners up: Tenchu 3, Midtown Madness 3
I'm sure there will be some more by the end of the year, Sould Caliber 2 has some big boots to fill, fingers are crossed.
Worst: Tomb Raider: Angel of darkness - Wotta piece of crap.
Super Duper Pong 20-04 with all new rosters.

Wario Ware would be my number one pick. I have not played a game in a long time that felt like such complete and mindless fun. Brought back memories of setting in front of the TV with my brother playing 2600. Big bonus is the wife likes it as well. I love the game and haven’t put it down since I got it a few days ago. A must play…
A strong second place for Zelda WW. It was a satisfying and complete game experience. Could have been a little longer with a little less “where is that triforce shard” sailing at the end.

Another another vote for Star Wars KOTOR.
I don't usually enjoy RPGs, but I love this one. I can't remember the last one that I started up again, immediately after finishing it the first time through.

OK, here's how I want to do the end of year awards. Starting on December 1st, the nomination period will begin. Every member can nominate two games for every catagory. The five games with the most nominations in each catagory at the end of the nomination period, which is January 1st, make the ballot. January will be the voting period, where every member will cast their vote in secret. On Feb 1st, the winners will be annouced.
I mean, this could be cool. Maybe we can even make a contest out of it, like the Oscars or something. Everyone fills out a prediction sheet and whoever is the most accurate wins a guide or something.
Anyway, that's the way I would go about doing it. It's Joe's choice at the end of the day. His site, his rules. But I think we could make it a legit big deal. Lots of people are taking Digital Press seriously these days (EGM, Slashdot, etc) so maybe we can make this a big deal. I think it would be cool.
