I'm very happy to announce that my first game is finally available on Steam.
It's an faux-NES-retro title about finding keys and avoiding enemies. Game is very simple but I did my best to make it fun.
At least in Brazil it's one of the cheapest games available on Steam.
The game even had a review on IGN Brazil (and it got an "8"!!) =)
Hope you like it! =D

So, NES platformer that hits that nice spot somewhere between simple and balls hard, seems generally good, has a 100% positive Steam rating and is $1?
Ok, you've got yourself a purchase.
Patch us in some redundant achievements and we'll call it perfect.

I'd call it perfect without if it plays nicely. Achievements are just there for people who just can't get by without a manufactured pat on the back. The real achievement is the ride.

There are a number of perfectly good Steam games that don't sell because they don't have achievements.
You can go on about it all you want, but it's provably a legitimate deal breaker.
But at $1 I don't think this game will have too many issues.

Nah at a dollar it's fine.
I am curious though, what games were not selling because of shallow people needing their fragile egos stroked couldn't get it from a game? The only reason I've ever gone on about it is because they're stupid and obtrusive junk I can not turn off, not even an option, nor can I even erase the things from the system if I get rid of the game. I don't like that.

PS4 added a feature that if you have 0% trophies you can delete the game from your trophy list permanently. Nice feature. Now if they'll let us remove all trophies and delete the game from our list if we happened to not like the game so I can get all those 1-10% games off my list.

I wouldn't mind this either, specifically for games where 100% is not impossible due to servers being shut down. I got Ghostbuster the very day they took down the servers. :/

That feature has been available for Xbox systems since the Xbox 360 and you can even turn off notifications. Microsoft has always been ahead of the pack when it comes to achievements.

See that's my problem, all it takes is 1, and you're locked in. And of course you can't shut off the annoying popups either. If I could at least compromise and disable the popups so I don't have them distract from the game, that would be nice, but still I'd prefer to just disable them outright and be capable of erasing them. I guess I'm showing my age on gaming, but I don't need some game popping up junk all the time to tell me I beat a chapter or blew up 3 people with a grenade to feel better about myself. I set my own benchmarks in my mind, the big 'platinum' finishing the game.

We get it, Tanooki, you're a big man who feels good about being a big man.
Some of us like having a structured ranking system for shits and giggles.

I would prefer a game with trophies/achivements over a game without them.
There are some ps3 games I am not interested in playing simply because they dont have trophy support.
Trophies/achievements add replay value and challenge.

Uhh I can't even make sense of what you're trying to make fun of there. I'd hardly call a good many of those trophies as structured ranking. They're just not for everyone and should be allowed to be disabled and/or erased is all I'm saying, that's it.

This is how the majority of people I've talked to about achievements/trophies have felt, including myself. Microsoft really stumbled onto something great with their introduction into all 360 games. Some of us gamers were already exploring every nook and cranny of certain games so achievements just gave us even more reasons to do this. And it's also great for developers because it gives gamers a reason to not only play through your game but also on occasion play through multiple times if there's achievements for that, such as a good and bad ending for example.
When I had my PS3 hooked up I was also disappointed that some games like the first Resistance didn't have any trophy support but then I remembered that Sony tacked on trophies several years after the PS3 launched as a response to Microsoft's achievement system. This is also why I prefer achievements to trophies because they were much better planned out by Microsoft but it's good that PS3/PS4 has some version of them as well(hopefully Nintendo jumps in eventually, specifically for 3DS).
They really do add replay value and have also helped sell DLC. Most people I talked to are far less interested in buying DLC that doesn't include any new achievements. I think I've only ran into a single person that didn't care much for achievements but as I mentioned previously you can turn off achievement notifications. Once you do that you will no longer receive achievement pop-ups or sound effects when you unlock one. Furthermore, this can be extended to all pop-ups, including when friends sign on or when they start up a game/app of whatever it is they are doing online.

Well count me as the second you've met, but sadly Sony is not as advanced, there's no disabling option which is sad but it is what it is. I'm at a point with a 3 1/2 year old I don't have the time or interest to dig into insane corners to get some weird trophy perk, and some I just think are dumb where it's like, wow you found a shotgun, here's a shiny medal (as if I couldn't find it) or when you clear a chapter of an RPG. I get the point of them, they're a great way for people who get OCD about every thing, those who want an ego boost, bragging rights, or whatever else, it's there, and it helps dig into peoples wallets who just have to get them all which means selling DLC for more profit. The system is there, it has facits, and works, I just wish I could turn it off, that's all. I did in Steam as it was bugging the crap out of me until I saw the check box. Knowing Nintendo since you brought it up, if they did add it to the 3DS and/or their NX system coming with all their overly paranoid privacy concerns and stuff around communication and public persona, they'd probably have it disabled from the get go so they don't fear some kid being watched, or they'd have an easy to find on/off switch for parents.

This probably should be its own topic about achievements, as it probably has some legs. Personally, I'm utterly indifferent to achievements whrn purchasing games. They just don't jump to mind when I think about games, probably just because I mainly play older games. There were two games in which I felt the achievements really added a lot: Culdcept Saga, where the challenges made you think outside the box in book building, and Crackdown, where they got me thinking about interesting ways to blow stuff up. Those two games had me looking at lists and trying new things. In just about everything else, though, I just haven't cared.
