So you visit the forums but you don't post... hey, that's quite alright with all of us, but we really DO want to hear from you, even if it's just a quick "hello".

Some of our most prolific community members were one-time lurkers (one of our mods, Queen of the Felines, and one of my favorite people, IGotTheDot, for example), and just needed a little nudge to get started.

*nudge*

Seriously... the place might seem big but it's not. And we're not at all "clicky". Everyone is welcome!

So if you've been lurking... come out for a sec and say HI!

I'm definitely an admitted lurker.....lurked 100 times for every 1 post I'd say. I frequent this site more than I'd like to admit....at least to my boss! Heck, it's my homepage even!

I had a couple more messages but then I think you guys switched servers or something and everything went back to zero? I'm not sure how far back I've been on the site but I remember I posted in the "Intro" area but that post is gone so I'm guessing it was from before the switchover. So in 2 years I've probably checked this site just about every day (with a hiatus here and there) and only posted 10 times!

Hey, I've been wanting to ask this. What ever happened to that conspiracy surrounding the poster that turned out to not be who they said they were? I think the poster posted under the name "Ariel" but I'm not sure.

Well nice to hear from ya! We did have a crash last September and lost a bunch of posts, I guess you got hit with that :(

The LeeFurie/Ariel Andrews story is somewhere in the off-topic forum. The whole thing was an interesting experiment - even moreso when I hear people today that STILL remember it! Try a search, there should be a few big threads.

Hope to see you around more, but you're welcome to "lurk", too :)

Certified lurker here. :-D

Just don't have much to say for myself at the moment 'tis all. I've been going through a quiet patch in all the messageboards I frequent due to how insane my life is at the moment. Unfortunately it happened to coincide with the same week I joined up here.

I read the posts n stuff during my breaks but usually don't have the time or the brainpower to form a response worthy of posting.

I need a holiday.....

No problem, SK, but we're certified therapists, too. At least as far as "what games will get your groove back". Sorry to hear life isn't treating you well but things will get better.

Hope to see ya 'round.

I lurk here often and post very infrequently. I post on AtariAge a fair amount, but I also enjoy DP. However, I don't post much and I need to get an avatar. Saying that, great website and I love the DP Guide. I can't wait for the other editons.

wow, i came here off and on for the first few months after joining. i joined up right away and posted something that didn't get pleasing results. some of you may remember, i dont really remember when i started hitting the boards hard but now i'm on here so much it gets me in trouble at home. i just wish i didn't sit here waiting for new PM's and replies. more people need to throw in their two cents, there is a lot to be had here and there's always plenty you can contribute. trade stuff around, its an addiction but i guess if all it costs you is shipping, then it can be a good addiction :o

Yeh, was a lurker, for a long time. Joe got me out of it - the bum :-D

Frankly, I don't like posting unless it is something of real interest. Most things in the DP forums seem to be groups of folks that know each other. I feel a bit out of place in these areas (should change my name to 'shy guy'). As for current forum members, I only know Joe. Anyone else I may know, but not by their forum names. I should visit/post more often, but I don't have the time to visit here each day (I've actually got a real life - no insult intended here).

later....

Thanks for "chiming in", lurker sect!

I may have mentioned this before but don't feel like you don't know anybody, even if that is so. Almost everyone here MET through these forums, we were all strangers at one time or another. You'll notice the atmosphere here is very casual and the moderating staff is "veteran" to say the least. It's OK to be shy, it's OK to lurk, but know that we really do want to hear from you, even if you're "new". New voices bring new opinions and fresh outlooks, something that there can never be too much of here.

Welcome again.

Well, I'm a lurker, but it seems that whenever I find the courage to peek my head out of the sand, the raging paws of a vile and bitchy cat have to come crashing down upon me in opression.

Sorry, do I seem irrate?
I just though that maybe freedom of speech, creativity, joy, and shy people were accepted on this forum, But I now know that I was wrong.

Just be forewarned cat, history repeats itself. In the "rescue rangers", there was an evil mob boss cat that ruled the steets. All it took to foil him were a couple of mice and some chipmunks. You may be a big bad cat, but I'm one mean little chipmunk. :vamp:

I hope you're kidding around because surely you know that the "minus cherry" thing is a running gag here.

Maybe you're being funny and I'm just too dense to notice it, :monkey: but this is hardly a place of oppression. Thick skin does help, however.

i'm a long time lurker too ...
i already lurked when the board was still on ezboard (or another forum
provider, don't remember...)

actually i've got no money to fullfill my video game addiction so i don't
really has something to say about my finds or anyhting like that.
Moreover i'm french and most of you are americans and probably hate
europeans ... but who knows maybe i'll take the leap and start posting

You don't have to be a collector or have played a million games - if you love your hobby, you belong here. Hope to see ya 'round!

I guess I'm more or less of a lurker. I don't usually have much to say, and I really hate just posting "cool!" in repsonse to messages, without adding any real content. I kinda follow that school of thinkers that say "Its better to keep your mouth closed and let them think you're an idiot than to open it and remove all doubt."

Hey, I've been a lurker for quite a few weeks now, only being bothered to sign up the other day. (believe me, i'm incredibly lazy... not a good attribute... Hell, until about a minute ago I had never even visited the actual main page of this site, only the forum!)

I followed a link to this forum through another topic on another forum that was asking for links to good "video-game" forums. I was in the mood to chat about games, (because everyone in my life except me seems to have lost interest) and I found this was the perfect place to read the opinions of other die hard gamers like myself. I'm not a videogame collector, but i'm an avid videogame player and I still can fit in... right? right? :-D.

Whooo hoo! Stick death! Awesome :)
I'm glad to see this is pulling at least a couple more lurkers out of hiding :)
We know you're out there, and we come in peace!
And don't forget, most collectors are gamers first and foremost!

You know I lurked for an awful long time too.

I used to lurk when they had the EZBoard, then I switched here, but even then, my first post here was Nov. 02

Now, they can't get rid of me!

Oh no, here they come again!

I'm not really a lurker I guess because I do post, but I have resisted posting on the "Introduce Yourself" thread.
