Next Generation scans on Project X by VM Labs from '97-98. Project X eventually was released as the Nuon system in the form of a number of compatible DVD players.

I'm pretty sure I've read all of these in the past. I wonder if the delay between Project X's launch in 1998 and the first Nuon DVD player's release had anything to do with repurposing the chipset for MPEG-2 decoding. I've always assumed that they decided to get into the DVD decoder chip market and had to "tone down" their hardware since a MPEG-2 decoder chip didn't need so much power (which would make the price higher). It would explain why the graphics abilities of the Nuon didn't look that much better than the N64.
