Dragon Quest XI (DQ11) announced for PS4 and 3DS, and also NX

Just announced during their official live stream!

Update - Dragon Quest X and XI announced for the NX. Megaton?

* Two different games based on the same story similar to Ni no Kuni.
* Both games slated for 2016 release to coincide with series 30th anniversary.
* The two games will still have the same core staff working on them.
* Is being made for the PS4 and 3DS (probably New3DS)
* PS4 version is developed with the assistance of Orca.
* PS4 version runs on UE4
* PS4 version is open(-ish?) world. Similar to DQVIII
* 3DS version is developed with the assistance of Toy Logic.
* 3DS Version presents a classic 2D Sprite style on the bottom screen.
* 3DS version will have 2D sprite battles + random battles when playing with the D-Pad and 3D battles when playing with the circle-pad.

Dragon Quest 11 coming to 3DS, PlayStation 4 - and the NX

Dragon Quest 11 has been officially revealed by Square Enix, and it's coming to the PlayStation 4, the 3DS and Nintendo's forthcoming NX - becoming the first game confirmed for the new platform in the process.


Dragon Quest 11 also has the honour of being the first game confirmed for Nintendo's NX, its new hardware that's set to be fully revealed next year.

I'm kind of working on DW1+2 and DW3 on GBC at the moment slowly. I think it's safe to say I would NOT get that on the PS4. I know how my TV time gets gobbled, so it would be the New3DS(no way 3DS would handle that alone) or if by some long shot I end up with the NX perhaps that depending how NX works out. I'm not buying launch Nintendo consoles anymore, twice burned is enough from their idiotic path of destruction, but if NX ends up being a 3DS and WiiU replacement, the scaled system thing I've gone on about, then yeah I'd consider that. It would be interesting if the NX used 3DS game cards as they can get quite large.

Even for early looks at that game it's stunning. Now the worry, do they release it here or screw us again and again? DQ got a couple 3DS releases we got burned on, and DQ10 didn't come out in the US either.

It just looks wonderful! Let's hope it will play as it looks. Dragon Quest VIII (developed by Level-5) was one of the best RPGs I've ever played, I liked it even more than Ni NO Kuni.
