I guess I'm having open up soon close to me as they have a "now hiring" sign up. What's the store like? Any Genesis, NES, SNES stuff?

The ones near me have all systems from NES on... but since this is a place that takes in used stuff, their inventory depends on what is brought in... Also, this is the only major chain around here that deals in Saturn items...

I went to one a couple of weeks ago. I was the only customer there and there were three employees. All three were crowded around the display game, playing it and yelling, and didn't care that I was there at all. I wanted to look at their older stuff, which inconveniently was right behind where they were standing. I crouched down to look at the NES games and one of the guys playing kicked me in the ribs by accident, then got mad at me because I made him lose his game. I almost threw him through the plate glass window.

AND they had nothing good.

I have 2 Game Crazy stores in my area. Seems like they're the polar opposites of each other.

Store 1: I bought a top-loading NES from them for $40, the first day I went in there. Since then, I've gotten a crapload of great deals, got 2nd place in a Def Jam Vendetta tournament...the employees and I are pretty good friends.

Store 2: Phone call: "Do you have any used Gamecubes?" "No, but we have refurbished ones" I go into the store same day. Same guy I talked to on the phone. "Ummmm, I THOUGHT we had refurbished ones......." they usually turn down my trade-ins for some reason or another as well. Often I go to the other location and they take the stuff no problem. ^^

Overall, they're my favorite local store. They've got an awesome membership deal where you not only get 10% off used games, but you get an extra 10% added to the trade-in value of stuff you trade in.

It is the closest, i.e. walking distance, game store to me. I rarely buy any games there, as they tend to throw away the packaging. This includes even the Genesis and the Dreamcast games. The employees, to their credit, usually alert me for a bit of dumpster diving but the odor of cheap popcorn and sticky coke has dissuaded me to this point. I have tried to get them to change this policy but to no avail. They are friendly and very helpful for the most part but charge a bit more than our local Gamestop. I think your mileage may vary from store to store. Hope this helps

A GameCrazy opened up a few blocks down from my house, and they sell whatever comes through the door. I picked up a used Saturn there for $20 last month, and a used GBA SP for $80. When they first opened up (about three or four months ago), the prices on used current-gen games were $5-10 cheaper than what Gamestop was charging, and they had a great selection. Since then, prices have increased and selection has gone down. But one of these weeks I will go down there and pick up a refurbished Gamecube for $80 (or however low the price gets).

Boy do I have a severe dislike for them. All of the employees at the two I've been at have been complete and total morons, not to mention that horrid F-Zero tournament debacle.

Besides, their selection isn't that great, and their prices aren't that good either.

My experience with the game crazy near me has been great. The employees are knowledgable, the prices are pretty good and the selection is good, too. I asked some questions about stuff behind the counter and the employee invited me back to check out whatever I wanted.

There are a couple in Columbus, I've been to one, and it was pretty cool, has some NGPC stuff there...sadly I couldn't afford it, but they had it :)

Decent prices, and the employee was pretty cool, I always like it when video game stores hire people over 19 .

They are all tied in with Hollywood video (like Blockbuster) here and have so a lot of the games are used rentals. I picked up Devil Dice for 19.99 complete.

Not too shabby.

Their prices are kind of high on most things. I remember going to buy Megaman Network Transmission the day it came out ($39 everywhere) and they wanted $49 for it. I would buy more stuff there, as its about two blocks from my house, but the employees generally ignore anyone who comes into the store. Always playing games on the displays instead of helping customers.

Occasionally good deals, but their games tend to be shitty as hell condition. I'm pretty sure that, as mentioned above, a lot of their games are ex-Hollywood rentals, which is why the discs are so screwed up and there's rarely complete games. I saw a Nomad for 50 bucks there once, which is the only item I've really thought about picking up.

The store near me has ALL the Playstation and Dreamcast games in generic cases with no instructions. I asked the clerk whether the games had full cases in back (the ghetto Gamestop in Dorchester, MA keeps a lot of the packaging in back and brings it out when you buy the game, so it's possible) and the guy says "Yeah, on some of the games, it depends, though." Pay more than EB/Gamestop for terrible condition games? Forget it.

Might be that my local Game Crazy is right in the center of White Trash Junction. I've noticed that EB/Gamestop's located in nicer areas tend to have games in much better condition.

I've been to the one near me a few times and it sucks ass. when they opened they circulated a flyer that stated they had everything from the 8-bit era and up. this turned out to be a very minimal selection of NES games.

the employees aren't very helpfull, the first couple times I went in I was one of like 2 or 3 people in the place and no one said a word to me. the place is tiny so it's not like I was hard to spot.

the last time I was there the only employee there was to busy watching a bunch of kids playing the Soul Calibur 2 demo to notice anyone was in line. when he finally did he tried pushing some speaker set up to a guy who clearly wasn't interested. they had them hooked up to an XBOX and the guy had just bought a game for it so he just kept at him. "no thanks", "yeah, but just listen to this sound... really LISTEN.. you NEED these... listen" blah, blah ,blah.

when I finally got to the register with my game. (it was the long box version of Wipeout) he looked for like 10 minutes and then finally said "sorry, can't find it, it must not be in the store"

so after wasting a half hour in there for a lousy $2.99 game I walked away empty handed.

haven't been back since.

the one that i used to live by wasn't all that bad. They did keep any Atari stuff they got in, and resold it for about $1 a game and $10 for any system. so i picked through that. They did keep NES boxes, picked up a handful of complete games for $2, but yeah they know the higher priced stuff, like $79 for rainbow islands or something. but it's just a place to check out once every 2-3 months.

I've been to that same one Chadtower mentioned a few times and I agree with him wholeheartedly. The employees (which always outnumber the customers) are complete tools who spend all their time playing games in the store and standing around in inconvenient places.

And narrowly avoiding getting thrown through the plate glass window by annoyed customers.
