I've been trying to play a Dreamcast Import I picked up at the pawn shop for .80 cents and I have no clue what game it is.. I go to use my Utopia Boot disc to play it and it stops t like 96% loading and goes to a black screen..

Can you scan the game? Maybe someone can ID it. I've heard that the Utopia doesn't work on some of the later DC releases and rereleases, but I've yet to have encountered it, as I only have a handful of DC imports.

There are two versions of the utopia disc available... and a.f.a.i.k. by using both discs, you are able to play any game.

It was Dynamite Deka 2 aka Dyanmite Cop in the Us... but I found the problem a tiny scratch on the disc or tough I think. I will try searching for the other boot disc and trying it

Has anyone had an issue about not being able to use the analog pad when playing an import through the Utopia disc? I successfully got a few JP imports to work with my Utopia 1.1 disc, and not one of them responded to the analog pad.
With the very tiny bit of Japanese I know, I even figured out that's it's not the case where the game didn't use the analog pad in the first place...

Ikaruga works for me with the Utopia boot disc and the analog pad.

While having no problem with playing "backups" with an Utopia boot disk (when needed), I could not getan original copy of Puzzle Bobble 4 (Japan) to finish booting up with either version of Utopia boot disk. I finally did get it to bootup using a gameshark.
I am not sure if it is the particular game or the "version" of the dreamcast console I have. Don't give up on the game until you have tried a gameshark or similiar device.

The Utopia boot disc has given me no success (on either version).
I have three NTSC-J games (Sega Rally 2, House of the Dead 2 and Sonic Adventure 2). Only SA2 works with it.
On the other hand, I can play them no trouble with the Gameshark CDX Demo CD.
My Utopia disc issues may only be PAL related though.

NTSC-J Sega Rally 2 doesn't work on PAL DC with Utopia, don't know abouyt THOTD2.

Best bet is to burn the boot disc with the Alcohol 120% (http://www.alcohol-software.com/) burning program.

I Can't Find One Anywhere, Everywhere I Go, You Have To Pay, Is There Any Site That I Can Get The Download For Free. I Just Want To Play Shenmue 2, I Got The Pal Version, But I Was Told I Needed To Get A Utopia Boot Disk 1.1 To Play It On My U.s. Dreamcast. Is This True, And If So Can Somebody Give Me A Site To Get One Free. Im Not Paying On Any Of Those Torrent Sites Just Cause I Don't Feel Comfortable Giving My Information To Those Site. Please Somebody Help Me. Thank You.

Proper torrent sites don't require payments, your finding bullshit rip off sites, I could be wrong but I don't think we can post torrent sites? Some proper googling though, believe me there are LOTS of sites that list torrent files that are FREE, but you need to do the searching/research don't expect people to just
give you everything.........................

DiscJuggalar is also trial, but that said all you need is the trial version to burn DC copies.

I have 2 utopia boot discs and they don't boot up imports either.
I used the gameshark but it only loads some games. Neither will let me play 3rd strike or Marvel VS Capcom 2.

As long as one person laughed then it was worth busting out the Utopia cartridge and taking the picture. :D

If you can load a game using Utopia (jap 3rd strike for example) try using DC-X instead I think that one is 100% compatible with jap imports.

The Gameshark Lite can boot Japanese games, right?
I won one on eBay, and it should be in my hands soon.

Both DC-X and Gameshark disc can boot 100% of JPN and PAL DC games; unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the Utopia disc...

As mentioned previously the GameShark/Action Replay CDX has better compatibility when booting imports. There's a demo version of the Action Replay CDX which can also be downloaded for free and burned with the Discjuggler.
Here's one place to get it:
