Sega Saturn Black Action Replay Plus does not work

I have a Action Replay Plus 4M auto for Sega Saturn, it is the variant with the black cart shell. I bought this new quite a few years ago and did not get around to testing it until like a year ago. Needless to say, it does not work.
So it has been sitting on the shelf doing nothing.. Now I rember reading something awhile ago that you can reinstall bios or whatever program runs on it. If anybody knows how to get it working or has any suggestions please let me know, I would hate to trash this.
Also, the problem is not in the Saturn's cart port. I tried this with 2 different modded saturns and nothing happens. Both Saturns work fine with other white pro action replay carts.
And yeah, I have also read that there are some duds when it comes to these. Just wanted to ask for advice before this gets trashed.

I flashed a working AR to this bios that let's you play backups I think it has a restore option as well. It will at least let you know if it detects the cart in the saturn. This is about all I have that may help. If you can't get it going I would like the black outer shell at least from you if you are just going to trash it. I have the white one and it looks off in my black saturn. :)

It's probably a dud but if you can reprogram it give that a shot. You could also desolder the PLCC flash chips and reprogram them directly.
